Senior Director – Texas Research Strategy, Partnerships

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Design and execute research strategies for Alzheimer’s and dementia across Texas in alignment with DPRIT and Alzheimer’s Association objectives.

• Identify and promote partnerships with Texas institutions and the Alzheimer’s Association to expedite dementia research, prevention, and innovative care solutions.

• Convert scientific objectives into practical programs, partnerships, and initiatives.

• Organize, facilitate, and engage in health science meetings, workshops, and cross-sector forums throughout Texas.

• Develop and sustain relationships with academic researchers, institutional leaders, biotech companies, clinicians, and policymakers.

• Discover and implement opportunities for multi-institutional collaborations, joint proposals, and shared resources.

• Act as a statewide scientific liaison representing the Alzheimer’s Association in health sciences collaborations and programs.

• Offer scientific insights for strategy development, funding priorities, and program design.

• Track emerging trends in Alzheimer’s and dementia research and suggest innovative strategies related to DPRIT.

• Assist in aligning research investments with community and health system requirements.

• Convey complex scientific ideas to researchers, clinicians, funders, and community stakeholders.

• Represent the Alzheimer’s Association at conferences, institutional meetings, and statewide gatherings.

• Cultivate a collaborative, solutions-focused culture among partners.

⛳️ Requirements

• A PhD in neuroscience, public health, biomedical sciences, or a related discipline is required.

• Candidates with an MD and pertinent research experience are encouraged to apply.

• 7 to 10+ years of experience in research, clinical research, or research administration within neurosciences.

• Preference for experience in neurodegenerative research, including Alzheimer’s and related disorders, as well as aging.

• Proven experience collaborating with academic, biotech, clinical, or research institutions on strategic initiatives and program implementation.

• Demonstrated ability to forge partnerships and lead initiatives across organizations.

• Strong capabilities in strategic thinking and problem-solving.

• Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, and communication skills.

• Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout Texas.

• Preferred experience with state-level research initiatives or public-private partnerships.

• Preferred experience in convening multidisciplinary stakeholders or leading collaborative networks.

• Preferred background in nonprofit, foundation, or research funding environments.
