Senior Director, Technology Strategic Sourcing – Category Management

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Oversee technology category strategies, roadmaps, sourcing execution, supplier segmentation, risk assessment, and value engineering initiatives.

• Spearhead multi-year category planning and sourcing strategies that align with business and technology needs.

• Manage supplier evaluation, selection, negotiation, contracting, and vendor performance oversight.

• Establish governance, controls, performance metrics, and sourcing benefit realization processes.

• Serve as the sourcing business partner and primary point of contact for designated Technology senior leadership.

• Anticipate roadmap, budget, and demand signals 6 to 12 months in advance of requirements or renewals.

• Maintain demand, renewal, and pipeline forecasts while aggregating requirements across business units and regions.

• Cultivate strategic vendor relationships, executive cadences, business reviews, roadmap alignment, and manage escalations.

• Lead organization-wide negotiations and structure master agreements, statements of work, service levels, subscriptions, licenses, renewals, and termination rights.

• Collaborate with Legal, Information Security, Privacy, Finance, and business leaders concerning contracts, risk, compliance, and value delivery.

• Oversee supplier performance, addressing financial, operational, cybersecurity, continuity, and reputational risks.

• Monitor spending, develop financial and ROI models, confirm savings, and report realized value and category performance to senior management.

• Assist with sourcing needs related to mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and integration activities.

• Enforce sourcing and vendor management policies, governance frameworks, process enhancements, AI and automation, supplier diversity, ESG, and responsible sourcing practices.

• Enhance procurement systems and analytics, covering sourcing, contract lifecycle, and spending platforms.

• Build, lead, mentor, and develop a team of Director-level category owners and sourcing professionals.

• Oversee team objectives, performance, coaching, workforce planning, resource allocation, and succession planning.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, computer science, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience is required.

• Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, and vendor management, with at least 6 years in technology or data sourcing, or a related domain required.

• At least 8 years of experience in a managerial role, including leadership of managers or senior individual contributors.

• Proven history of negotiating and managing complex technology supplier contracts and portfolios exceeding $100M in annual expenditure.

• Experience managing a technology category end-to-end within a category-based procurement or category management operating model.

• An advanced degree is preferred.

• Experience leading teams through organizational or operational model changes is preferred.

• Background in a Fortune 500 or similarly complex, large matrixed global organization is preferred.

• Certification in procurement, supply management, or project management (such as CPSM, CIPS, or PMP) is preferred.

• In-depth expertise in strategic sourcing, outsourcing, and contract development across technology and data categories.

• Proven capability to establish and manage a multi-year category roadmap.

• Outstanding negotiation and contract optimization skills.

• Comprehensive understanding of global sourcing practices, vendor management, compliance, governance, and risk management frameworks.

• Strong familiarity with technology supplier landscapes, licensing and consumption models, industry trends, and emerging technologies.

• Solid financial acumen, including complex cost structures and ROI models.

• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.

• Capacity to lead change and promote cross-functional alignment within a global matrixed organization.

• Proficiency in procurement tools such as SAP Ariba or Coupa, contract lifecycle management systems, and data analytics platforms.

• Ability to establish spend baselines, category profiles, risk assessments, controls, performance measures, and KPI reporting.

• Proficient in English for business communication with global stakeholders and suppliers.
