This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Offer strategic leadership and guidance for Environmental, Health & Safety programs across all operations and business functions of Transco Rail Services.
• Create, implement, sustain, and continually enhance Environmental, Health & Safety policies, standards, procedures, and management systems.
• Set uniform Environmental, Health & Safety expectations and accountability measures across field operations, shop environments, corporate functions, and support departments.
• Collaborate with operational and functional leaders to pinpoint risks, enhance performance, and support business goals.
• Oversee, analyze, and convey Environmental, Health & Safety performance metrics, trends, and areas for improvement to senior leadership.
• Direct environmental compliance initiatives, risk management, audits, assessments, inspections, and sustainability programs.
• Spearhead occupational health initiatives focusing on industrial hygiene, exposure reduction, injury prevention, workforce readiness, and Workers' Compensation programs.
• Propel safety initiatives, action plans, performance enhancement, facility evaluations, incident response, and corrective/preventive measures.
• Conduct investigations related to serious injuries, fatalities, environmental incidents, vehicle accidents, regulatory issues, and other high-risk events.
• Prepare reports, presentations, and suggestions for senior leadership regarding performance and risk exposure.
• Directly oversee Director-level Environmental, Health & Safety leaders and other designated personnel.
• Provide coaching, mentoring, performance management, succession planning, leadership development, and talent evaluation.
• Collaborate with Operations, Human Resources, Engineering, Finance, Commercial, Procurement, Information Technology, Risk Management, and other departments.
• Act as the primary Environmental, Health & Safety advisor to leadership teams at Transco Rail Services.
• Assist in acquisitions, business expansions, facility launches, customer initiatives, and operational changes through planning and risk assessments.
• Encourage alignment of Environmental, Health & Safety expectations across geographically diverse operations.
• Report to the Sr. Vice President of Operations.
• A Bachelor's Degree in Safety & Health, Occupational Health, Environmental Science, Safety Engineering, Environmental Health, or a related field is required.
• A minimum of ten (10) years of increasingly responsible experience in Environmental, Health & Safety leadership.
• Proven experience supporting multi-site operations in industrial, transportation, manufacturing, rail service, field service, or similar settings.
• A strong track record of enhancing Environmental, Health & Safety performance and minimizing organizational risk.
• Extensive experience leading Environmental, Health & Safety professionals and functional leaders.
• In-depth knowledge of regulatory compliance, industrial hygiene, injury prevention, incident management, environmental compliance, and risk management programs.
• Demonstrated capability to influence operational and functional leaders across varied business environments.
• Comprehensive understanding of environmental, occupational health, and workplace safety regulations in the United States and Canada.
• Solid grounding in industrial hygiene principles, risk assessments, incident investigation techniques, root cause analysis, and corrective action management.
• Strong comprehension of Workers' Compensation, General Liability, Auto Liability, and risk mitigation strategies.
• Capability to create and implement company-wide Environmental, Health & Safety standards, procedures, and improvement initiatives.
• Robust business acumen with the ability to align Environmental, Health & Safety priorities with operational and organizational objectives.
• Outstanding leadership, communication, presentation, and influencing abilities.
• Proficient in building effective partnerships across all levels and functions within the organization.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience utilizing metrics, reporting tools, and performance data to inform decision-making.
• Proven ability to lead organizational change and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Strong project management and strategic planning capabilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Environmental, Health & Safety management systems.
• Ability to wear necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and meet all customer and company site access requirements.
• Capacity to work in office settings, rail yards, repair facilities, mobile field service environments, customer locations, and industrial work areas.
• Ability to navigate facilities, climb stairs and ladders, access elevated workspaces, and traverse uneven ground.
• Capability to operate motor vehicles and travel by commercial aircraft as needed.
• Willingness to work extended hours and respond to significant environmental, regulatory, operational, or safety events when required.
• Frequent travel throughout the United States and Canada, typically ranging from 40-60% based on business needs.
