
Senior Director β Network Infrastructure and Planning

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alaska, +1 more state.
β’ Oversee and lead teams and initiatives focused on network infrastructure planning, engineering, design, record accuracy, and lifecycle management.
β’ Take ownership of the comprehensive Layer 1 network infrastructure planning and design, which encompasses outside plant facilities, inside plant infrastructure, fiber routes, ducts, conduits, structures, DC power, racks, capacity, records, and construction engineering.
β’ Align infrastructure plans across Layer 2 and Layer 3 in collaboration with IP Engineering leadership and network architects.
β’ Convert business demands, networking strategies, service delivery needs, reliability goals, and project commitments into actionable infrastructure plans, budget proposals, engineering priorities, and readiness for implementation.
β’ Ensure that Layer 1 plans promote reliability, route diversity, resilience, serviceability, maintainability, constructability, permitting readiness, and efficient economic utilization of facilities.
β’ Evaluate facilities, route limitations, capacity shortages, customer demand, traffic growth, and funded projects to identify needs for construction, rearrangement, removal, or enhancement.
β’ Create and enhance processes for managing facilities records to ensure that network records are complete, accurate, timely, and easily accessible electronically.
β’ Collaborate with IP Engineering leadership and architects on site readiness, fiber availability, route diversity, physical constraints, equipment placements, and capital planning.
β’ Guide decision-making and escalations in instances where Layer 1 constraints impact Layer 2/3 designs, schedules, budgets, resilience, or service delivery.
β’ Generate budget inputs, capital forecasts, and business case justifications for network infrastructure projects.
β’ Bachelorβs Degree in a relevant field such as Engineering, Business, or Construction; equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of formal education on a year-for-year basis.
β’ A minimum of twelve (12) years of experience in telecommunications engineering or construction; equivalent education may replace years of experience.
β’ Proven expertise in utilizing Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.
β’ Demonstrated skill in using OSP Insight and AutoCAD.
β’ Capability to lead, influence, make decisions, plan, organize, measure, and coordinate multiple tasks effectively.
β’ Technical aptitude in handling complex technical subjects and specialized information.
