📋 Description

• Maintain and enhance the quality and integrity of AP Science examinations, course curricula, and professional development resources.

• Oversee item development and management from creation to administration across various AP Science course titles.

• Train and collaborate with subject-matter experts, including university professors and high school educators.

• Ethically and effectively incorporate AI technologies into the creation and review of assessments.

• Educate SMEs on assessment development protocols and facilitate communication between academics and psychometricians.

• Create formative assessment materials and resources for AP Science educators globally.

• Act as a liaison for AP Science committees and communities of subject-matter experts.

• Direct assessment development and the final approval process for items and test forms across two or more test titles.

• Write and revise assessment content, including training for educator contributors.

• Manage formative and summative assessment content and scoring materials through iterative reviews both internally and externally.

• Lead the creation of assessment forms that align with approved curricula and test specifications.

• Conduct face-to-face, weekend, and virtual Test Development Committee meetings.

• Supervise Test Development Committee members as they contribute content and conduct reviews.

• Direct annual AP Reading scoring events and produce publications for educators and students.

• Contribute to research in assessment, best practices, standards, and shared principles for AP assessments.

• Provide leadership, training, and mentoring in assessment across subjects to Course Experts.

• Enhance item development through task models, training processes, documentation, and generative AI.

• Refine question task models and exam design for AP Biology, Environmental Science, Chemistry, or Physics.

• Monitor the validity, security, reliability, fairness, quality, and reader reliability of exams.

• Establish equitable, reliable, and valid cut scores in collaboration with psychometricians and AP Curriculum & Assessment personnel.

• Train and support Course Experts in assessment development, AI utilization, item creation, and item bank platforms.

• Mentor team members in leading test development committees and collaborating with external stakeholders.

• Refine AP Science Course Frameworks and learning outcomes.

• Assist in the development of new AP Science products through prototyping, market testing, and development models.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Master’s degree in Biology, Environmental Science, or a related Life Science field, Chemistry, Physics, or a closely related discipline is required.

• A Doctorate in the relevant discipline is strongly preferred.

• Adequate disciplinary breadth to contribute to curriculum and assessment efforts in at least two of Biology, Environmental Science, Chemistry, and Physics.

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in standardized assessment development is required.

• Up-to-date knowledge of current trends in at least one of the listed disciplines.

• Proven ability to apply disciplinary expertise across at least two AP Science courses.

• Experience with digital assessment and teaching in one or more of the listed disciplines is preferred.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Solid technical proficiency coupled with a customer-focused approach.

• Exceptional organizational and planning abilities, with a keen attention to detail and proofreading skills.

• Capability to implement processes and procedures, manage project timelines and schedules, and maintain documentation tracking.

• Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.

• Willingness to travel 6–8 times per year, plus an additional two weeks for the AP Reading.

• Must be eligible and authorized to work in the United States.

• An inquisitive nature and enthusiasm for emerging technologies, along with a readiness to adopt AI-driven solutions.

• Comfort with independently and proactively learning and applying new digital tools.

• A learner’s mindset and commitment to continual growth.

• Ability to make data-informed decisions and navigate complex problem-solving scenarios.
