Senior Director, Head of R&D Resource Management

📋 Description

• Define and drive the long-term strategic vision, roadmap, and operational standards for R&D Resource Management.

• Create an integrated operational framework that links Functional Line Management, Global Program Teams, R&D Finance, and Governance Committees.

• Act as the leading authority on functional capacity, demand trade-offs, and the resolution of resource bottlenecks during portfolio assessments and corporate planning cycles.

• Spearhead the strategic implementation of AI and machine learning models for forecasting FTE demand.

• Oversee the design, calibration, and optimization of Planisware algorithms.

• Foster trust in resource data through baseline metrics, standardized benchmarking, automated validation checks, and on-demand data access.

• Champion and implement Named Allocation workforce management tools.

• Manage the analysis of resource supply against demand, functional constraints, skills shortages, and burnout risks.

• Own global R&D resource analytics, dashboards, executive scorecards, and enterprise portfolio reporting.

• Lead quantitative scenario modeling for portfolio prioritization, operational trade-offs, budget reductions, pipeline expansions, and integration of business development.

• Establish processes for timecard and effort actuals, along with variance analysis against forecasts.

• Influence Functional Vice Presidents, Global Program Leaders, and Finance Directors regarding resource priorities and investments.

• Direct and mentor specialists in Resource Management and analytical experts.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences, Business Administration, Data Analytics, Operations Research, Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline.

• At least 12+ years of progressive leadership experience in pharmaceutical/biotechnology R&D, life sciences management consulting, or clinical operations management.

• A minimum of 6–8 years of hands-on leadership in enterprise Resource Management, Portfolio Analytics, or Capacity Planning within a pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical organization.

• Demonstrated success in architecting and deploying enterprise-wide resource management software.

• Experience with Planisware is required.

• Extensive conceptual and operational knowledge of drug discovery, preclinical studies, clinical trial execution, regulatory submission, and commercialization lifecycles.

• Expertise in Planisware enterprise portfolio management software, including algorithm customization, resource driver setup, workload curve modeling, and system integration.

• Proficiency in quantitative business analytics, data visualization tools such as PowerBI and Tableau, statistical analysis, and practical application of AI/ML predictive tools in resource planning.

• Proven hands-on leadership experience implementing Named Allocation, capacity planning, and resource management modules in enterprise systems like Planisware, Anaplan, or Workday.

• Exceptional oral and written communication skills.

• Strong capabilities in change management.

• Ability to navigate complex global organizations and build collaborative relationships across technical, operational, financial, and executive teams.
