This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee Dropbox’s global direct tax reporting function across U.S. federal, state, and international jurisdictions.
• Formulate and implement a long-term strategy for the Global Tax Reporting division.
• Recognize emerging trends in tax, regulations, business, and technology, positioning the organization proactively to address future risks and opportunities.
• Create the operational model and organizational capabilities suited for Dropbox’s evolving business and global tax environment.
• Lead and nurture a high-performing team, setting priorities, accountability measures, succession plans, and fostering career development.
• Encourage innovation centered on AI and continuous process enhancement.
• Establish cross-functional collaborations across Finance and other business units, escalate risks, and convert complex tax issues into practical recommendations.
• Act as the technical leader in tax accounting.
• Direct quarterly and annual income tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740.
• Manage current and deferred tax accounting, including effective tax rate analysis, deferred tax assets and liabilities, valuation allowance assessments, uncertain tax positions under ASC 740-10, and return-to-provision analyses.
• Prepare and assess tax-related disclosures for financial statements, including Forms 10-Q, 10-K, earnings releases, and other SEC documents.
• Collaborate with Accounting and Finance teams to ensure timely and accurate financial closings and reporting.
• Analyze tax accounting implications of new legislation, accounting standards, regulatory changes, and business initiatives.
• Lead global direct tax compliance, encompassing U.S. federal, state, local, and foreign income tax filings, estimated payments, extensions, and tax account reconciliations.
• Supervise external service providers, ensuring quality, accuracy, and timeliness of their outputs.
• Promote enhancements in compliance processes, governance, documentation, and execution.
• Integrate AI, automation, and digital technologies into tax operations.
• Apply AI-enabled solutions in tax provision, compliance, forecasting, technical research, documentation, and reporting.
• Uphold governance, professional judgment, confidentiality, and internal controls regarding generative AI usage.
• Manage the global tax reporting control environment, ensuring SOX compliance.
• Confirm that processes, controls, and technical positions are well-documented, scalable, and audit-ready.
• Provide tax support for external financial statement audits and internal audit functions.
• Coordinate interactions with external auditors and tax authorities.
• Cultivate relationships with auditors, advisors, and regulatory stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• CPA certification and over 15 years of progressive corporate tax experience.
• More than 5 years of experience in leading and developing high-performing teams.
• Proven experience in managing global tax reporting and compliance for a multinational public company.
• In-depth knowledge of worldwide direct tax compliance, tax accounting, and financial reporting.
• Capability to identify and escalate risks, exercise sound judgment, and deliver practical, business-focused recommendations.
• Proficiency in building trusted cross-functional relationships and influencing senior stakeholders.
• Exceptional executive communication, organizational, and project management skills.
• Experience utilizing generative AI, automation, advanced analytics, and contemporary finance technologies to enhance tax operations and organizational efficiency.
• Preferred: Master’s degree in Taxation, Accounting, or MBA in Finance or a related field.
• Preferred: Experience with a Big Four public accounting firm.
• Preferred: Background in the technology or SaaS industry.
• Preferred: Familiarity with OneSource Tax Provision, OneSource Income Tax, Workiva, SAP, Oracle, Alteryx, or similar tax technologies.
