This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +3 more states.
• Direct the daily operations of the tax team, assigning tasks, reviewing work, coaching team members, and enhancing capacity as the ETF platform expands.
• Supervise the preparation and review of federal income tax returns (Form 1120-RIC), excise tax returns (Form 8613), extensions, and related workpapers.
• Manage filing deadlines and address review comments effectively.
• Analyze fiscal year-end tax provisions, book-to-tax differences, tax character adjustments, ROCSOP evaluations, and financial statement tax disclosures.
• Collaborate with fund auditors.
• Oversee excise calculations, estimates for dividend and capital gain distributions, and tax reallocation data utilized for shareholder reports.
• Provide guidance on quarterly Subchapter M diversification and gross-income testing.
• Partner with Fund Administration, portfolio teams, and other stakeholders to tackle potential compliance challenges.
• Act as a senior contact for client tax inquiries and engage in discussions with prospective clients as necessary.
• Enhance review controls, procedures, technology, and training to ensure tax services remain precise and scalable.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
• A minimum of seven years of experience in investment company or fund tax.
• Significant hands-on experience with RIC tax returns, excise taxes, distributions, and Subchapter M compliance.
• Proven experience in reviewing complex tax work and mentoring or supervising tax professionals.
• Capability to research technical issues, apply sound judgment, and communicate findings to clients, auditors, and cross-functional teams.
• Excellent organizational and project management abilities, with the capacity to manage competing deadlines across various funds.
• Preferred: Direct experience with ETF tax operations, including in-kind creations and redemptions, along with the tax treatment of complex investments.
• Preferred: CPA or a master’s degree in taxation.
• Preferred: Experience in enhancing tax processes, controls, and systems within a growing fund administration context.
