This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead and manage the preparation and review of individual, partnership, corporate, and nonprofit tax returns.
• Oversee the daily workflow, assignments, priorities, deadlines, and workloads of the tax team.
• Act as a technical resource for Tax Associates, addressing tax and accounting inquiries.
• Mentor, train, and facilitate the professional growth of Tax Associates.
• Assist in onboarding and training new Tax Associates.
• Monitor tax deadlines and outstanding client information; identify delays and create solutions.
• Support management in staffing, workload, and resource planning during peak tax periods.
• Prepare and review Forms 1040, 1065, 1120, and 990.
• Conduct secondary and final reviews of tax returns.
• Research and resolve intricate tax issues while staying updated on federal, state, and local tax laws.
• Assist with compliance-related reporting requirements.
• Communicate with clients regarding tax inquiries, missing information, and technical issues.
• Collaborate with clients, internal stakeholders, departments, and leadership.
• Enhance tax preparation processes, workflows, and procedures.
• Develop and maintain internal tax procedures, checklists, training materials, and resources.
• Troubleshoot Lacerte issues and provide technical assistance.
• Address QuickBooks, payroll, and accounting-related inquiries.
• Process general ledger transactions and journal entries.
• Manage and reconcile commission revenues.
• Handle accounts payable payments and accounts receivable receipts.
• Monitor cash balances across multiple entities.
• Participate in month-end closing and resolve accounting discrepancies.
• Assist in the preparation and review of internal financial statements.
• Support firm initiatives and special projects.
• Travel up to 10% as required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration is mandatory.
• Must possess a current Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or IRS Enrolled Agent (EA) designation.
• At least 5 years of experience in tax preparation, including Forms 1040, 1065, 1120, and 990.
• Preferred experience in reviewing tax returns, providing technical guidance, or leading tax workflows.
• Preferred experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger tasks.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
• Familiarity with Lacerte, TaxDome, QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar tax and accounting software.
• Strong understanding of tax compliance, accounting principles, and financial reporting.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership, professionalism, ethical judgment, and meticulous attention to detail.
• Capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines in a dynamic environment.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% as required.
• Successful completion of all pre-employment requirements, which may include a criminal background check and credit history review, as permitted by law.
• Preference will be given to candidates located in Eastern or Central U.S. time zones.
