
Senior Director – Enterprise Pandemic Preparedness and Response

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead Lilly's strategy for enterprise pandemic preparedness and response to infectious diseases.
• Develop and implement policies, standards, governance processes, readiness expectations, objectives, metrics, and assessments.
• Provide guidance to executive leadership regarding emerging infectious disease threats, preparedness investments, and business risks associated with outbreaks.
• Create and enhance the enterprise-wide plans for pandemic and infectious disease response.
• Prepare strategic briefings, recommendations, and risk assessments for executive leadership, governance committees, and the Board.
• Oversee global surveillance for infectious diseases, epidemiological intelligence, and public health advisories.
• Convert outbreak signals into relevant business risk assessments and strategic recommendations.
• Conduct assessments of pandemic-related vulnerabilities in facilities, supplier networks, clinical trials, and critical business processes.
• Provide strategic leadership for continuity planning in manufacturing, supply chain, clinical development, and commercial operations.
• Establish strategies for surge capacity and contingency planning concerning critical medicines and vaccines.
• Advise on maintaining clinical trial continuity and patient access during outbreak situations.
• Coordinate and lead enterprise response activities during infectious disease events and public health emergencies.
• Participate in Lilly's incident command and crisis management structure.
• Direct cross-functional response teams and strategies for mitigation and recovery.
• Coordinate stakeholder efforts to safeguard employees and ensure business continuity.
• Assist in executive communications and stakeholder engagement.
• Represent Lilly in industry coalitions, public-private partnerships, professional organizations, and preparedness initiatives.
• Build relationships with public health agencies, regulators, academia, NGOs, and industry groups.
• Implement enterprise preparedness training, simulations, and exercise programs.
• Lead executive tabletop exercises and enterprise-wide response simulations.
• Drive after-action reviews and capture lessons learned.
• Promote organizational preparedness and resilience.
• PhD, PharmD, MD, or an equivalent advanced scientific or medical degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Infectious Disease, Virology, Microbiology, Pharmacy, Medicine, Global Health Security, or a related field.
• Over 10 years of progressively responsible experience in public health preparedness, infectious disease management, pharmaceutical operations, emergency management, business continuity, global health security, or related areas.
• Proven success in leading enterprise-wide preparedness, crisis management, or risk management programs.
• Experience in advising senior executives on complex issues related to risk, preparedness, public health, or operational resilience.
• Capacity to influence and lead cross-functional teams without direct reporting authority.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory and public health frameworks pertinent to the pharmaceutical industry and public health emergencies.
• Familiarity with pharmaceutical supply chain, manufacturing, clinical development, and commercial operations.
• Direct leadership experience in responding to significant infectious disease outbreaks or pandemics.
• Engagement experience with organizations such as FDA, EMA, WHO, CDC, BARDA, CEPI, HHS, or similar entities.
• Experience briefing executive committees, boards of directors, or governmental leaders.
• Certification in emergency management (CEM), FEMA ICS/NIMS, or comparable preparedness frameworks.
• Proficiency in epidemiological modeling, health security analytics, and decision-support tools.
• Experience in GxP-regulated environments related to manufacturing, clinical development, or vaccine and infectious disease contexts.
