This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Define and lead Versapay’s enterprise data strategy, ensuring that the data roadmap aligns with product, AI, and commercial goals.
• Oversee the architectural integration of transactional, operational, and analytical data layers into a cohesive, bi-directional operational backbone.
• Own a comprehensive, multi-year roadmap for data maturity that encompasses architecture, semantics, governance, and accessibility.
• Establish standardized hierarchies, enterprise ontologies, and shared metric catalogs.
• Implement data governance through automated classification, RBAC enforcement, platform SLAs, and certified data objects.
• Formalize the Enterprise Data Catalogue and create an executive data health dashboard.
• Enforce the data procurement gate and manage the Enterprise Data Asset Registry.
• Prepare data infrastructure for machine learning pipelines, LLM serving layers, and agentic serving tiers.
• Create schema contracts and semantic modeling standards for safe and scalable agent deployment.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams on reverse data flow, predictive model productization, and real-time data serving.
• Govern sensitive and external data products, ensuring quality, lineage, privacy, and compliance.
• Transform data requests into a governed, discoverable, and product-oriented organization.
• Operationalize external data products and collaborate with Commercial on data product commercialization.
• Enhance self-service data access while safeguarding compute capacity and governance standards.
• Lead and develop the Data Platform Team in collaboration with Embedded Analytics, Risk, and Compliance.
• Bridge connections among Product, Engineering, Commercial, Finance, and Legal/Compliance teams.
• Foster a culture of data discipline and represent the data function at the executive level, partnering closely with the CTO.
• 10+ years of experience in data leadership, with a minimum of 5+ years at the Director level responsible for enterprise data strategy, architecture, or governance.
• Proven experience in modernizing and unifying complex, multi-source data environments at scale, preferably in a SaaS, fintech, or payments context.
• Extensive expertise in the modern data stack, including cloud data warehouses (preferably Snowflake), lakehouse architectures, ETL frameworks, and semantic/canonical modeling.
• Strong track record in the application of AI and ML infrastructure, demonstrating how data governance, observability, and semantic standards support safe and scalable AI deployment.
• Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing technical teams and collaborate effectively across Product, Engineering, and Commercial functions.
• Experience in governing data for commercial applications, including external data products, consent frameworks, lineage standards, and privacy compliance.
• Outstanding communication skills, capable of simplifying complex data and architectural concepts for executive audiences and fostering alignment across functions.
• Experience in managing the costs of data warehouses and performing cost forecasting.
• Background in hiring and managing talent across the entire data landscape, from BI and Analytics to Data Engineering and CI/CD of data platforms.
• Familiarity with agentic AI architecture, MCP, or LLM serving layers and the associated data requirements.
• Knowledge of AR/AP automation, payments, or working capital platforms and their generated data models.
• Proven success in commercializing data as a product, including packaging data assets, developing external APIs, or establishing data-sharing programs with partners.
• Experience managing data maturity transformations through structured roadmaps, measurable milestones, and executive visibility.
• Hands-on experience with AWS-native data infrastructure (Glue, SageMaker, Bedrock) as well as Snowflake and modern BI tools.
