This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Lead and oversee internal dosimetry, including absorbed dose calculations and dose-response assessments for radiopharmaceutical imaging and therapeutic agents.
• Design and implement dosimetry strategies for both preclinical and clinical research.
• Create dosimetry protocols, workflows, imaging-to-dose analysis plans, uncertainty assessments, and clinical trial documentation.
• Direct patient-level dosimetry utilizing PET, SPECT, and CT, which includes voxel-level and Monte Carlo-based dose calculations.
• Employ time-activity integration, pharmacokinetic and compartmental modeling, as well as translating dosimetry from animals to humans.
• Develop multi-scale dosimetry methodologies across organ, voxel, cellular, and sub-cellular levels, especially for alpha-emitting radiotherapeutics.
• Collaborate with biology and translational teams to link absorbed dose to biological response, optimizing dose selection, combination strategies, and therapeutic windows.
• Ensure quality control, standardization, calibration, physical validation, and quality assurance of dosimetry data.
• Introduce new dose calculation platforms and modeling techniques for innovative radioisotopes.
• Maintain relationships with software vendors, CROs, external researchers, academic partners, and government entities.
• Represent the organization in professional societies, standards committees, and collaborative groups.
• Offer technical support, training, and mentorship to cross-functional teams.
• Contribute to regulatory filings and the advancement of medical physics knowledge.
• Articulate complex dosimetry, radiation transport, and radiobiology subjects to scientific audiences.
• Organize and deliver work in accordance with corporate deadlines with minimal oversight.
• Uphold professional ethics, integrity, leadership, confidentiality, and stay current with dosimetry guidelines.
• Utilize AI to enhance program, portfolio, or functional performance through prioritization and widespread adoption.
• Advanced degree in Medical Physics, Nuclear Engineering, or a related field, with formal training in radiation transport and internal dosimetry.
• At least 10 years of experience managing radiopharmaceutical dosimetry programs in academic, clinical, or industry contexts.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in dosimetry for radiopharmaceutical therapies within oncology, covering both preclinical and clinical applications.
• A PhD in Medical Physics, Nuclear Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
• Acknowledged professional reputation in the radiopharmaceutical therapy dosimetry community is preferred.
• Extensive experience in radiopharmaceutical therapy dosimetry for oncology, including theranostic pairs and technologies involving alpha-, beta-, and Auger-emitter.
• Proficiency in designing, executing, and analyzing dosimetry studies in preclinical and clinical settings.
• Experience in validating image-based dosimetry processes against physical measurements and ensuring data quality control and standardization.
• Profound expertise in Monte Carlo radiation transport and patient-specific dose calculations.
• Familiarity with dosimetry platforms, heterogeneous GPU/CPU computing, and multi-scale dosimetry.
• Working knowledge of radiation biology, dose-response dynamics, radiobiological modeling, and combination therapy effects.
• Technical skills in OLINDA, MIRDcalc, MIM, Torch/RAPID, GATE, Geant4, MCNP, SIMIND, 3D Slicer, ITK-SNAP, Elastix, Python, C/C++, Matlab, or R.
• Experience in deformable registration and segmentation processes.
• Proven ability to manage cross-functional projects and align various stakeholders.
• Demonstrated success in mentoring and developing technical personnel.
• Capability to work efficiently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication abilities for diverse scientific audiences, regulatory agencies, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time.
• Ability to work in a laboratory setting with appropriate protective gear, including clothing, gloves, and safety glasses when handling radioactive materials.
