Senior Director, Data Management

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Lead the Data Management department globally with innovative and creative strategies across multiple sites and countries.

• Formulate and implement comprehensive strategies for the Data Management and Database Programming department, addressing system and resource requirements.

• Take charge of departmental efficiency by utilizing quality and efficiency metrics and gathering customer feedback.

• Oversee departmental budgets and manage project PPRs, ensuring compliance with trial budgets and timelines.

• Coordinate staff allocation to guarantee adequate expertise and proper delegation of tasks.

• Mentor, supervise, and conduct performance evaluations and development reviews for Data Management personnel.

• Identify training needs within the department and provide or source appropriate training opportunities.

• Offer expert guidance on both general and project-specific Data Management concerns.

• Create solutions that support Data Management, clinical trial management, and clinical data requirements.

• Collaborate with technology and scientific/medical teams.

• Act as the primary contact and escalation point for Sponsor representatives.

• Ensure department SOPs and non-project-specific procedures are documented and kept current.

• Maintain compliance with Good Clinical Practice guidelines, departmental SOPs, and Sponsor expectations.

• Assist Business Development initiatives, including bids, proposals, and Bid Defence sessions.

• Provide technical guidance and support on Data Management matters to other departments.

• Represent Data Management within the organization globally.

• Work cooperatively with Sponsor auditors and regulatory bodies to ensure that recommendations are addressed by senior management.

• Proficient in written and spoken English.

• Exceptional time management abilities with a capacity to adhere to and direct project plans.

• Capability to prioritize and manage multiple projects concurrently.

• Demonstrated leadership and management expertise.

• Strong understanding of Data Management Systems and principles.

• Possess a degree or equivalent qualification.

• A minimum of 12 years of relevant Data Management experience.

• Experience in clinical drug development, including software or application development and implementation.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.

• Proven track record in designing and/or developing Data Management solutions used in clinical trials.

• Good understanding of guidelines and regulations pertinent to the implementation of technologies and programming within clinical development programs.

• Strong knowledge of budgeting, revenue recognition, and invoicing processes.

• Organizational skills that define strategies contributing to the organization’s overarching strategic plan.

• Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.

• Flexible, creative mindset; capable of exercising sound independent judgment and taking initiative to evaluate information.
