Senior Director, Business Transformation – PMO

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• Define and oversee the Business Transformation & PMO charter, service boundaries, decision-making rights, operating model, and capability roadmap.

• Convert strategic priorities into transformation themes, focus areas for value streams, and measurable outcome objectives.

• Implement a process-first strategy for assessing roles, policies, processes, controls, data, and technology modifications.

• Manage enterprise intake and prioritization for transformation opportunities, technology requests, significant process changes, and strategic initiatives.

• Facilitate executive portfolio decisions, presenting options for investment, sequencing, acceleration, deferral, rescoping, or cessation.

• Maintain a comprehensive enterprise view of projects, programs, improvement backlogs, resources, dependencies, and portfolio risks.

• Sponsor value-stream and process architecture practices, including assessments of the current state, future-state design, process ownership, controls, KPIs, and improvement roadmaps.

• Direct the PMO enterprise delivery system, establishing standards for planning, phase gates, RAID management, financials, dependencies, testing, readiness, transition, and closure.

• Oversee high-priority programs, intervening when delivery confidence, vendor performance, readiness, resources, or outcomes are at stake.

• Integrate stakeholder impact, communication, training, readiness, adoption, reinforcement, and sustainment into transformation plans.

• Set benefit baselines, target metrics, measurement methods, and accountable benefit owners.

• Collaborate with Finance and business owners to confirm financial and operational outcomes post-implementation.

• Design and supervise strategic partner governance, accountability, performance measures, and escalation procedures.

• Build and lead a team that encompasses process architecture, business analysis, project and program management, portfolio governance, and change capability.

• Define career levels, role clarity, performance expectations, staffing models, and development pathways.

• Mentor leaders and process owners in problem-solving, governance, accountability, and benefits ownership.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in business, operations, finance, supply chain, information systems, industrial engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• A minimum of ten years of progressive leadership experience in transformation, portfolio, program, project, process improvement, enterprise applications, operations, consulting, or related fields.

• Proven track record in leading cross-functional enterprise transformations and managing a portfolio of complex initiatives.

• Experience in integrating business process redesign, technology delivery, organizational change, data, controls, and benefit realization.

• Strong executive presence, financial and commercial acumen, structured problem-solving skills, facilitation, negotiation, and communication abilities.

• Demonstrated capability to build internal teams, manage strategic vendors, influence without direct authority, and lead through uncertainty.

• Experience in providing frank delivery and risk guidance to senior executives and facilitating challenging prioritization decisions.

• Preferred: experience in consumer products, beverage, manufacturing, distribution, retail, or another high-growth operating environment.

• Preferred: experience with ERP-enabled transformation, data and analytics modernization, commercial platforms, M&A integration, shared services, or enterprise controls.

• Preferred: knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, BPMN, APQC, process mining, business architecture, portfolio management, and hybrid delivery methodologies.
