This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Create a branding and communications strategy that aligns with the organization's mission and strategic objectives.
• Collaborate with leadership to ensure consistent and clear messaging across various platforms including newsletters, website, social media, and publications.
• Enhance the organization’s voice, brand, and narrative with a focus on justice and equity.
• Develop audience-specific channels and messages that support donor engagement and partnerships.
• Amplify RPA’s thought leadership in collaboration with Inquiry and Insights.
• Provide messaging and public speaking guidance to the Co-CEOs.
• Lead media relations efforts, including proactive press outreach, rapid response, and management of journalist relationships.
• Oversee the digital strategy and content for the website, social media, newsletters, and multimedia storytelling.
• Support communications for significant initiatives, events, campaigns, programmatic efforts, core operations, and thought leadership.
• Offer executive counsel and risk-based communications advice for complex, high-profile, or sensitive issues.
• Design and manage processes for tracking initiatives, campaigns, and outreach efforts.
• Create and implement internal communication systems that enhance employee connection, clarity, and alignment.
• Develop resources for staff that cover media training, message consistency, and social media engagement.
• Safeguard and promote brand identity and voice across all interactions.
• Ensure brand asset consistency in visual design, tone, and messaging.
• Manage the organizational media presence, including pitching, placements, and media relations.
• Identify strategic visibility opportunities for Co-CEOs, executive leadership, and team members.
• Directly supervise communication staff and manage external vendors, agencies, and consultants.
• Work collaboratively with cross-functional leaders on integrated campaigns and messaging.
• A Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, or a related field, or equivalent experience is required.
• A minimum of 12 years of experience when considering equivalent experience pathways.
• Outstanding writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated senior-level experience in developing and executing communications strategies, including digital initiatives.
• Experience within a nonprofit, philanthropic, or mission-driven organization is preferred.
• Strong grasp of social justice, equity-focused language, and principles of narrative change.
• Proven ability to manage media relationships, digital platforms, and brand identity systems.
• Familiarity with audiences in the philanthropy sector and communications for donor, grantee, and stakeholder engagement.
• Capability to provide strategic counsel to executive leadership.
• Experience supervising communications staff and managing external vendors, agencies, and consultants.
• Some travel may be necessary.
