Senior Digital Automation Engineer, ROCKS Team

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Develop and implement Infrastructure as Code solutions utilizing Ansible across VMware vCenter, bare metal, and cloud platforms

• Automate the provisioning of VMs, management of templates, configuration of networks, allocation of storage, PXE boot processes, hardware setups, BIOS/firmware management, and deployment of operating systems

• Create reusable, modular Ansible roles and collections to ensure consistent deployment methodologies

• Develop custom Ansible modules, plugins, and filters using Python

• Construct and manage CI/CD pipelines for testing, validating, and deploying automation code

• Integrate automation processes with Git, secrets management, monitoring tools, and enterprise systems via RESTful APIs

• Produce runbooks, architectural diagrams, and operational protocols

• Oversee automation execution, resolve issues, and enhance reliability and performance

• Engage in an on-call rotation for critical automation infrastructure support

• Monitor and report automation metrics, including deployment frequency, success rates, and time efficiency

• Provide support for the ROCKS Kubernetes-based container management platform for both classified and unclassified deployments

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related discipline with at least 5 years of experience

• U.S. citizenship is mandatory

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance

• An active and existing DoD Secret security clearance is required from day one

• Proficient in Ansible execution environments and containerized automation

• Experience in programming and scripting

• Familiarity with Active Directory and Group Policy automation

• Proficient in Linux system administration; RHEL/CentOS is preferred

• Knowledge of Windows Server administration, particularly Windows Server 2019/2022

• Experience with network and storage configuration is preferred

• Familiarity with VMware vSphere/vCenter administration and automation is preferred

• Advanced PowerShell scripting skills, including a minimum of 2 years and Desired State Configuration (DSC), preferred

• Proficiency in Python development, including over 3 years of experience and REST API development/consumption, preferred

• Experience with bare metal provisioning, including PXE, Kickstart/Preseed, and hardware management, preferred

• Understanding of operating system security principles, hardening methods, and compliance frameworks, preferred

• Experience with system internals, performance optimization, and troubleshooting is preferred

• Familiarity with YAML, JSON, and INI configuration files is preferred

• More than 4 years of practical Ansible experience is preferred

• In-depth knowledge of Ansible architecture, including playbooks, roles, collections, inventories, and vault is preferred

• Experience in developing custom Ansible modules, plugins, callbacks, and filters is preferred

• Proficiency with Ansible Galaxy and the creation/publishing of reusable collections is preferred

• Strong understanding of Jinja2 templating and YAML best practices is preferred
