This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada, +2 more states.
• Lead and integrate Multiplayer’s expanding technology practice.
• Influence the operational and growth strategies of the technology team.
• Mentor direct reports through discussions on goal-setting.
• Foster a culture where engineers and designers excel collaboratively.
• Oversee planning and execution for multiple simultaneous projects.
• Manage workstreams, priorities, scope, resources, dependencies, risks, and delivery schedules.
• Collaborate with development partners on technical direction, implementation standards, milestones, and project expectations.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies, engineering practices, AI advancements, and industry trends.
• Define technical direction and decision-making frameworks across projects.
• Guide the technical direction of projects and make architectural decisions.
• Create prototypes, proof-of-concepts, and conduct technical explorations.
• Collaborate with designers, strategists, product teams, and clients to translate design intent into technical architecture and implementation strategies.
• Set engineering standards, code quality expectations, and QA methodologies.
• Identify technical risks, communicate trade-offs, and propose solutions.
• Contribute to ongoing creative enhancement, innovation, and excellence.
• 10+ years of full-time experience in design technology, creative development, or a closely related field.
• At least 2 years in a managerial role.
• Work samples that are accessible to Multiplayer.
• Minimum 3-hour overlap with the Toronto EDT timezone.
• Extensive full-stack knowledge across frontend, backend, infrastructure, DevOps, deployment pipelines, and contemporary development platforms.
• Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor and Claude Code.
• Capability to make architectural decisions that balance scalability, maintainability, and delivery speed.
• Skill in establishing engineering standards, code quality expectations, and QA practices.
• Ability to develop prototypes, proof-of-concepts, hardware integrations, and physical computing explorations where applicable.
