This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Create innovative products that embody the essence of Atari brands and their licensed partners, while addressing audience requirements.
• Partner with the Creative team to transform 3D designs into reality, taking into account visual and tactile messaging, production methods, and cost objectives.
• Evolve and refine the product design language.
• Generate various conceptual directions and develop robust solutions within project timelines.
• Prepare concepts for user validation through prototypes or renderings.
• Convey visual and physical design elements through sketches, illustrations, renderings, and 3D prototype models.
• Design manufacturable and durable products, while addressing design, engineering, material, and assembly challenges prior to production handoff.
• Assist R&D with new materials, 3D rendering, and on-site production support.
• Offer creative insights and production support to the design team.
• Collaborate across departments and with vendors to sustain project momentum and achieve milestones and deliverable deadlines.
• Provide high-quality design solutions on schedule, integrating feedback when necessary.
• Articulate design strategy and the creative process to internal stakeholders, including design and executive teams.
• Engage in design critiques and planning/conceptual meetings.
• Recognize social, industry, and technology trends that shape future products.
• Establish and adhere to design project deadlines with support from the team.
• Work closely with the Creative Team and other business units to ensure designs align with visual assets and product launch objectives.
• A compelling portfolio that showcases your creative abilities throughout the design process.
• Strong skills in sketching, concept generation, and design development, along with knowledge of design methodologies.
• Exceptional visualization capabilities (hand sketching, digital 2D and 3D rendering).
• Proficient in prototyping, mock-ups, and modeling.
• Familiarity with prototyping, materials, and manufacturing techniques in product development.
• Keen attention to detail.
• Ability to understand human factors and design trends relevant to project requirements.
• Proficient in 2D, 3D, and rendering software, including Rhino 3D, AutoCAD, Sketchbook, Keyshot, Photoshop, Illustrator, Solidworks, Cinema 4D, and Blender; knowledge of Maya is a plus but not essential.
• Understanding of manufacturing materials and processes, particularly plastic injection molding, metal die casting, and stamping.
• Familiarity with plastics, manufacturing processes, and design for manufacturability.
• Strong hands-on prototyping skills across various materials and methods.
• Interest in and knowledge of consumer electronics products.
• Solid understanding of pop culture trends, fandoms, and the licensing environment.
• Entrepreneurial spirit and self-motivated, with a strong work ethic.
• Excellent creative, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently, delivering results on time.
• Proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of leading projects with minimal guidance.
• Outstanding verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced, deadline-oriented setting.
• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Toy Design, or a related discipline.
• 5–7 years of experience as a product designer, ideally in the entertainment, licensing, creative agency, or pop culture sectors.
• 1–3 years of experience in consumer product development.
