Senior Database Reliability Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assess database architectures and propose enhancements for improved performance and availability.

• Collaborate within Agile Scrum and Kanban methodologies to facilitate engineering initiatives.

• Address database outages, manage incident triage, and resolve database-related challenges.

• Analyze database schemas, partitions, views, and queries, implementing performance optimizations.

• Oversee and maintain database replication for enhanced resilience and fault recovery.

• Make decisions regarding product selection, design methodology, and modeling for AWS and GCP database strategies.

• Develop database architectures that support business continuity, backups, and the growth of compute, network, and storage.

• Utilize Terraform and GitOps to automate the deployment and creation of infrastructure.

• Create a standardized, replicable database design architecture for new installations.

• Perform additional duties as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficiency in working with K8S operators, particularly Zalando and CNPG.

• Experience with Postgres, Kafka, or other distributed event streaming systems, ETLs, and CDC.

• Over 5 years of practical Database Engineering experience, with a focus on Postgres.

• More than 5 years of experience in an AWS or GCP cloud environment.

• At least 3 years of advanced programming experience in Python or Go.

• Strong background in database monitoring.

• Extensive experience in database architecture.

• Solid experience in Kubernetes production environments.

• Familiarity with applications that require compliance audits.

• Proven experience in addressing production support issues and ensuring timely resolutions.

• Experience in building infrastructure as code (IaC), preferably using Terraform.
