Senior Database Administrator – PostgreSQL, MySQL

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ukraine.

📋 Description

• Design, configure, and oversee the maintenance of PostgreSQL and MySQL databases in production settings.

• Ensure the systems are highly available, with robust disaster recovery and performance optimization measures in place.

• Conduct database migrations from on-premises solutions to cloud environments and between different cloud platforms.

• Diagnose and resolve database-related issues in development, testing, and production environments.

• Implement monitoring systems, backup strategies, and best practices for database security.

• Work collaboratively with development, DevOps, and data teams on schema design, query optimization, and ETL pipeline development.

• Engage in capacity planning, cost optimization, and automation projects.

• Maintain documentation for database systems, configurations, procedures, and operational runbooks.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of practical experience with PostgreSQL in production environments.

• At least 3 years of experience working with MySQL.

• Familiarity with at least one public cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure), including managed database services like RDS or Cloud SQL.

• Strong SQL proficiency with a solid understanding of indexing, query optimization, and partitioning techniques.

• Knowledge of strategies for backup and recovery, replication, and configurations for high availability.

• Expertise in scripting and automation languages, such as Bash, Python, or Ansible.

• Experience in supporting database migration initiatives.

• Familiarity with MongoDB, SQL Server, Neo4j, or other NoSQL database systems.

• Experience with ETL tools, BigQuery, or concepts related to data warehousing.

• Exposure to DevOps methodologies and infrastructure-as-code tools.

• Relevant certifications in PostgreSQL, MySQL, AWS, GCP, or Azure are a plus.
