This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Provide production support for essential database environments, ensuring shift-based coverage and on-call assistance.
• Monitor database performance, address incidents, troubleshoot production challenges, and collaborate with development and operations teams for restoration efforts.
• Conduct root-cause analysis for production defects and contribute to enhancements for long-term stability.
• Operate within an Agile development environment, participating in daily scrums, biweekly sprint planning, and quarterly Program Increment planning.
• Establish operating standards and best practices focusing on performance, security, scalability, and maintainability.
• Define, control, and coordinate data elements and standards; facilitate data relationships, systems integration, and physical structure.
• Engage in the development and implementation of database management policies and standards.
• Collaborate with Product Owners and users to gather business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Work alongside agency leaders, stakeholders, consultants, and program/agency personnel to apply data analysis techniques.
• Document intricate workflow designs for project teams and stakeholders.
• Collect, analyze, and interpret substantial data sets utilizing advanced statistical analysis, data mining, and predictive modeling techniques.
• Synthesize information and recognize patterns and relationships across multiple data sources.
• Create data visualizations for key performance indicators and program outcome metrics.
• Conduct peer reviews of code from other developers; validate data and ensure accuracy and integrity.
• Develop stored procedures, jobs, views, tables, and other database objects using SQL Server Management Studio.
• Design and build scalable data models for Databricks lakehouse environments, including bronze, silver, and gold layers, dimensional models, fact and dimension tables, and curated data products.
• Create and deploy ETL packages utilizing CI/CD pipelines.
• Utilize configuration management systems for version control.
• Work with the Atlassian Suite of software development management tools.
• Index system and application logs in Splunk, creating dashboards, alerts, and reports.
• A minimum of seven (7+) years of experience in Server database maintenance and database analysis or a similar role.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Programming, Computer Engineering, or a related computer-focused major; relevant experience may be considered in place of a degree.
• Experience in supporting production database systems, encompassing shift-based coverage and on-call responsibilities.
• Proficient experience with AWS database technologies, including Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL and other AWS-managed data services.
• Familiarity with Databricks and exposure to the AWS cloud platform.
• Experience in the installation, configuration, and ongoing administration support of database environments.
• Solid understanding of standard data warehouse concepts.
• Skilled in data modeling, data mapping, data flow diagrams, and data marts.
• Previous experience in architecting and implementing cloud-based database solutions across various platforms.
• Experience with data migration from legacy on-premises databases to multi-cloud/hybrid cloud platforms.
• Ability to lead initiatives and work independently, prioritize tasks, and achieve results.
• Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be available for on-call support and/or adhere to a flexible work schedule as necessary.
• Database or cloud certification preferred, such as AWS Certified Database – Specialty, AWS Solutions Architect Associate/Professional, or equivalent industry-recognized cloud/database certification.
• Experience in creating and managing database reports, visualizations, and dashboards is preferred.
• Knowledge of court operations and law enforcement business data is preferred.
