Senior Database Administrator, PostgreSQL, MySQL

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Design, set up, and manage PostgreSQL and MySQL databases within production settings.

• Ensure the databases maintain high availability, effective disaster recovery, and optimized performance.

• Conduct database migrations from on-premises solutions to cloud environments and between various cloud platforms.

• Diagnose and resolve database-related issues in development, testing, and production settings.

• Establish database monitoring, implement backup strategies, and adhere to security best practices.

• Collaborate with development, DevOps, and data teams on schema architecture, query optimization, and ETL processes.

• Engage in capacity planning, cost-saving measures, and automation projects.

• Create documentation for database systems, configurations, procedures, and operational guides.

• Utilize cloud-native database services across AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 3 years of practical experience with PostgreSQL in production environments.

• More than 3 years of experience with MySQL.

• Familiarity with at least one public cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure), including managed database services (e.g., RDS, Cloud SQL).

• Strong SQL expertise, with a deep understanding of indexing, query optimization, and partitioning.

• Demonstrated knowledge of backup and recovery strategies, replication, and high-availability setups.

• Proficient in scripting and automation (e.g., Bash, Python, Ansible).

• Experience in supporting database migration initiatives (e.g., PostgreSQL to cloud, MongoDB to Atlas, SQL Server upgrades).

• Familiarity with MongoDB, SQL Server, Neo4j, or other NoSQL databases.

• Experience with ETL tools, BigQuery, or concepts related to data warehousing.

• Exposure to DevOps methodologies and infrastructure-as-code tools.
