Senior Database Administrator, DBA

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.

📋 Description

• Take responsibility for the performance, availability, and scalability of production database systems, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB.

• Design, implement, and oversee backup, replication, and disaster recovery strategies.

• Lead database deployments, migrations, and schema modifications with minimal downtime.

• Provide after-hours and on-call support for critical deployments, sharing responsibilities with the team.

• Monitor the health of databases and proactively address performance bottlenecks.

• Collaborate with Engineering to create scalable data architectures for new features.

• Establish and uphold best practices for security, access control, and data governance.

• Document database processes and mentor engineers on database best practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar senior data infrastructure role.

• Strong hands-on knowledge of PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB in production settings.

• Extensive experience with backup and disaster recovery strategies, replication, and high-availability configurations.

• Experience in supporting production deployments, including after-hours or on-call shifts.

• Ability to work independently within a remote, distributed team across multiple time zones.

• Strong skills in troubleshooting and performance tuning under pressure.

• Proficient in both written and spoken English and Spanish.

• Located in Mexico, Europe, or a similar timezone that aligns with a Bogota-based team.

• Exceptional communication skills and capability to collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering.
