This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Ensure adherence to service level agreements regarding database performance, availability, backups, and security.
• Install Microsoft SQL Server instances in various configurations, including standalone, Windows Failover Cluster, Availability Groups, AWS, and SQL Server RDS.
• Develop, test, deploy, and maintain security and audit solutions.
• Implement hardening standards as per CIS and SCSEM.
• Review NESSUS scans and address vulnerabilities and database compliance issues.
• Schedule, monitor, and verify database backups and restoration processes.
• Oversee metrics collection jobs for performance, availability, and capacity planning using Datadog.
• Plan and execute database upgrades, patches, and certificate applications.
• Adhere to best practices, work plans, checklists, and established processes.
• Provide proactive support to application teams.
• Participate in technical project reviews and lead assessments of work products.
• Create and maintain documentation for database support.
• Resolve complex database incidents and issues promptly.
• Engage subject matter experts or vendors for complex incidents as necessary.
• Implement customer requests for database changes.
• Participate in 24x7 on-call rotations for the production environment.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Capable of obtaining and maintaining the necessary Public Trust level clearance.
• Bachelor's Degree with 5 years of experience, Associate's Degree with 7 years of experience, or High School Diploma or equivalent with 9 years of experience.
• At least 5 years of experience as a Microsoft SQL Server DBA, including extensive production support.
• Experience in virtualizing Microsoft SQL Server 2019/2022.
• Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server high availability options, such as transactional replication, log shipping, and Always On.
• Proficient in SQL Maintenance Plans, SQL Agent jobs, and Ola Hallengren's Maintenance Solutions.
• Knowledge of MS Windows Security Domains, Networking, and Group Managed Service Accounts.
• Experience supporting databases on AWS EC2 and RDS instances.
• Skilled in deploying and maintaining cloud-native databases using Terraform and CI/CD automation with GitLab and Liquibase.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively with team members.
• Experience or knowledge of Transact-SQL is an advantage.
