Senior Database Administrator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, configure, maintain, and support PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server databases in both on-premises and Azure environments.

• Monitor the health and performance of databases, identify bottlenecks, and apply tuning and optimization strategies.

• Develop, maintain, and validate backup and disaster recovery protocols.

• Manage database security, including user access, permissions, auditing, and adherence to regulatory standards.

• Implement and support high-availability solutions such as Always On Availability Groups, replication, and failover capabilities.

• Diagnose database issues related to performance, connectivity, availability, corruption, and application integrations.

• Collaborate with development teams to enhance schemas, stored procedures, queries, and overall database design.

• Maintain documentation of database architecture, operational procedures, and system standards.

• Conduct capacity planning and forecasting.

• Take part in the on-call rotation for critical database systems and production incidents.

⛳️ Requirements

• A degree or equivalent experience, typically with 7+ years of progressive database administration experience in production environments.

• Extensive expertise in managing PostgreSQL and/or Microsoft SQL Server within enterprise settings.

• Proficient in database installation, configuration, performance tuning, security administration, backup and recovery, and high availability solutions.

• Skilled in PL/pgSQL and/or T-SQL, including query tuning and optimization techniques.

• Proven experience in troubleshooting complex database issues and implementing effective, long-term solutions.

• Familiarity with databases hosted in cloud environments, with a preference for Microsoft Azure.

• Experience utilizing automation and scripting technologies such as PowerShell or Python.

• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.

• Capability to work independently while effectively partnering with cross-functional technical teams.
