Oracle Database Administrator – Business Availability, Disaster Recovery

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut.

📋 Description

• Spearhead the strategy for Business Availability and Disaster Recovery for Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server database environments throughout the organization.

• Establish, develop, and propose database and data management policies and procedures that support availability and recovery goals.

• Oversee comprehensive availability, performance monitoring, and capacity planning.

• Enhance database access and allocate resources for configuration, performance, and cost efficiency.

• Provide support for services and databases catering to diverse concurrent users while maintaining data control, integrity, and accessibility.

• Monitor and optimize performance for Oracle and SQL Server, focusing on query optimization, indexing, execution plan analysis, and capacity management.

• Take ownership of and verify high-availability and disaster recovery configurations.

• Manage database backup and recovery processes.

• Ensure disaster recovery environments are in alignment with production systems.

• Deliver database administration support across production, testing, and development systems, including installation, configuration, patching, and troubleshooting.

• Provide expertise on automation tools, scripting platforms, and monitoring systems.

• Streamline database administration tasks through scripting, scheduling, monitoring, and maintenance workflows.

• Collaborate with data users and stakeholders on recommendations for availability and reliability.

⛳️ Requirements

• BA/BS degree and 6–8 years of relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Extensive knowledge in Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server database design, administration, performance tuning, and optimization.

• Proven capability to lead complex technical projects related to Business Availability and Disaster Recovery design.

• In-depth understanding of HA and DR solutions, including Oracle Data Guard, RAC, SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, Failover Cluster Instances (FCI), replication, log shipping, and backup/recovery methods.

• Experience in installing, configuring, patching, upgrading, and administering Microsoft SQL Server versions 2016/2019/2022 or later.

• Familiarity with SQL Server security, database backup and recovery, maintenance plans, SQL Server Agent, monitoring tools, and database migration tasks.

• Experience in performance tuning, indexing, query optimization, and troubleshooting performance issues in both Oracle and SQL Server environments.

• U.S. Citizenship and residency are required.
