Senior Database Administrator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Provide expert database administration services across Oracle, Postgres, and MS SQL platforms in a mid- to large-scale enterprise environment

• Conduct daily assessments of database health

• Confirm the integrity of backups

• Actively monitor datacenter resources

• Troubleshoot issues and implement preventative solutions

• Plan, coordinate, and carry out release notifications

• Execute authorized maintenance tasks

• Set up new servers or databases

• Generate dynamic user-issue documentation

• Offer bi-weekly status updates

• Create task-oriented procedural documentation

• Enhance existing infrastructure processes

• Oversee team ticket queues as necessary

• Facilitate the onboarding of new team members

• Engage in weekly meetings

• Promote improvements in training, user documentation, and support tools

⛳️ Requirements

• 8 years of experience in database administration

• Strong to expert-level proficiency in Oracle, Postgres, and MS SQL databases and applications

• Capability to provide dynamic problem documentation (definition, resolution, reporting)

• Willingness to support scheduled after-hours maintenance

• Experience in managing queues for incoming tickets

• Background in developing, deploying, and supporting database systems at scale

• Comprehensive project lifecycle experience: design, development, implementation, documentation

• Familiarity with Microsoft Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux; Linux knowledge is essential

• Understanding of enterprise systems management (configuration management, ESD, etc.)

• Knowledge of scalability principles, economies of scale, and cost-of-ownership considerations

• Broad awareness of cloud technologies, applications, and protocols (TCP/IP, Active Directory, Oracle/Postgres/SQL DBs, Apache Tomcat, MS IIS)

• U.S. Citizen

• Work authorization in the United States that does not currently or in the future require visa sponsorship
