Senior Data Storage and Backup Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.

📋 Description

• Design and develop comprehensive storage and backup infrastructure solutions tailored to customer needs.

• Oversee the entire lifecycle of storage and backup infrastructure, which includes requirements gathering, design, implementation, Day 2 support, and decommissioning.

• Monitor, diagnose, and conduct root cause analysis for backup operations and restoration issues.

• Provide support and management for various NetBackup storage products.

• Implement multiprotocol environments such as FC, iSCSI, NFS, and CIFS within NetApp NAS environments.

• Facilitate data migration for Solaris, AIX, Linux, and Windows hosts.

• Collaborate with systems administrators to resolve storage-related issues and performance challenges.

• Carry out storage allocations, LUN masking, and data migrations.

• Monitor storage performance and establish alerts and notifications.

• Create, modify, and implement CLI scripts for NetBackup.

• Configure and manage fiber switches.

• Engage in storage array modifications, which include firmware upgrades and storage virtualization.

• Conduct technology assessments and contribute to service strategy and the evolution of future architecture.

• Define requirements and specifications collaboratively with internal teams in an Agile framework using Epics and User Stories.

⛳️ Requirements

• 7 years of experience in the design and architecture of storage and backup systems based on customer specifications.

• 7 years of practical experience with enterprise-level data storage technologies, including ONTAP, Hitachi, StorageGRID, and SAN BROCADE, with an emphasis on FC networking.

• 7 years of experience in backup and recovery solutions utilizing NetBackup and Commvault.

• 7 years of experience managing technical operations and administration in IT data storage and backup.

• 7 years of experience in deploying and maintaining multiprotocol environments such as FC, iSCSI, NFS, and CIFS, particularly within NetApp NAS systems.

• 5 years of general networking experience.

• Proficient knowledge of VMware, OpenStack, and Kubernetes (K8s).

• Familiarity with Python scripting and database systems like MS SQL and Oracle DB.

• Experience using Jira for issue tracking and project management in agile settings.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.

• Willingness to work mid shift (4PM to 1AM) or night shift (8PM to 5AM).

• Training period requires a night shift schedule (8PM to 5AM) for 6 months.
