This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.
• Oversee mine planning, design, and optimization processes for mining projects from inception to production.
• Manage technical studies, including Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA), Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS), and Feasibility Study (FS).
• Supervise production schedules, ventilation, and operational enhancements.
• Provide guidance and supervision to contractors.
• Ensure adherence to safety and regulatory requirements.
• Assist in converting resources to reserves, project economics, and engaging stakeholders.
• Develop and assess open-pit mine plans and underground mine designs in a consulting capacity as a mining engineer.
• Implement innovative methodologies for conceptual, pre-feasibility, feasibility, and operational mine projects.
• Draft and author technical reports, acting as a Qualified Person where applicable.
• Establish, nurture, and enhance client relationships.
• Conduct technical and economic assessments of both underground and open-pit mining projects.
• Engage in project budgeting, feasibility analysis, cash flow assessments, Net Present Value (NPV), and Internal Rate of Return (IRR) evaluations.
• Design and optimize short-term and long-term open-pit mining strategies.
• Prepare clear, concise, and technically accurate reports and presentations.
• Travel to client locations across Canada and internationally for short-term assignments as needed.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including geologists, metallurgists, geotechnical engineers, and environmental experts.
• Support business development efforts, proposal submissions, and client engagement activities.
• Utilize knowledge of mine planning training, mine evaluation, reclamation planning, operation management, environmental management, and equipment selection.
• May undertake special projects, strategic initiatives, or other ad hoc tasks as necessary.
• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related engineering field (e.g., Civil, Mechanical, Process, or equivalent).
• At least 15 years of technical experience in the mining sector.
• More than 10 years of experience in project evaluation, budgeting, and cost estimation from project initiation to completion.
• Proven leadership and management experience, demonstrating the ability to lead, mentor, and develop multidisciplinary teams.
• Capacity to work independently with minimal oversight while upholding high standards of quality and accountability.
• Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management abilities.
• Proficiency in additional languages (e.g., French, Spanish, Russian, Arabic) may be required based on role and project location.
• In-depth understanding of mining operations, mine planning, project development, and economic assessment.
• Skilled in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD.
• Experience with Microsoft Project and Oracle applications is advantageous.
• Proficiency in one or more mining software packages such as GEOVIA GEMS, Whittle, Vulcan, Datamine, Surpac, Micromine, or other standard mine planning and resource modeling software.
• Proven capability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a dynamic, professional consulting environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing and report preparation.
• Strong attention to detail and effective time management abilities.
• Ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team while also performing effectively independently.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight project deadlines.
• Competence in reading, understanding, and following work instructions safely, accurately, and efficiently.
• Willingness to work extended hours when necessary to meet project timelines.
• Availability for periodic travel to SGS offices, client sites, and project locations within Canada and internationally.
