Senior Data Scientist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create sophisticated modeling solutions for Zip's upcoming financial products by utilizing extensive data sources such as bank transaction data.

• Innovate and test traditional machine learning, algorithmic, and AI-focused modeling techniques.

• Independently design, construct, assess, and refine AI/ML models.

• Quickly experiment and develop practical proofs of concept.

• Contribute to test designs that yield data for future iterations of models.

• Balance immediate business results with long-term experimental initiatives.

• Leverage AI to enhance model quality, analytical efficiency, or product outcomes.

• Develop models that reduce risk while promoting profitable growth.

• Collaborate with Data and Machine Learning Engineering teams to ensure data availability and model scalability.

• Oversee modeling solutions from inception to production monitoring.

• Present findings, recommendations, and trade-offs to business stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Mathematics, Physics, Social Science, Computer Science); PhD is preferred.

• Over 5 years of experience in Data Science, which may include PhD research.

• At least 2 years of experience with data pertinent to Financial Services.

• Self-motivated with strong problem-solving and research capabilities; able to work autonomously.

• Strong understanding of probability, statistics, and applied research methodologies.

• Experience with cashflow data (e.g., Plaid, MX, Finicity) is highly desirable.

• Proficient in Python and SQL; practical experience with Spark/PySpark is a plus.

• Familiarity with Neural Networks, LLMs, and GenAI.

• Experience in credit and/or fraud risk is advantageous.

• Knowledge of version control systems like Git.

• Ability to excel in a fast-paced, multitasking environment.
