Data Scientist, Mid-level

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Create and implement data science and AI solutions tailored for intricate healthcare, federal health, and regulated-data settings.

• Develop machine learning, analytics, NLP, and generative AI solutions utilizing both structured and unstructured data.

• Enhance workflows that convert documents, free text, and other complex source data into dependable structured outputs.

• Construct classification, prediction, prioritization, analytics, and decision-support workflows.

• Conduct data preparation, feature development, experimentation, model assessment, error analysis, and validation.

• Examine model and data quality issues, adjusting methodologies when results fall short of expectations.

• Contribute to production workflows, monitoring, human-review protocols, and reproducible data science practices.

• Collaborate with senior technical personnel, domain specialists, and stakeholders to turn requirements into feasible technical solutions.

• Assume responsibility for the entire process, from vague problem definitions to evaluation and production.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent professional experience in Data Science or a related field.

• 3-5 years of relevant experience.

• Practical experience in developing data science, machine learning, or applied AI solutions.

• Proficient in Python and SQL.

• Strong grounding in statistics, machine learning, experimentation, and data analysis.

• Familiarity with unstructured data, including documents, free text, NLP, information extraction, document AI, or LLM-based workflows.

• Capability to independently manage defined projects, assess outcomes, troubleshoot issues, and articulate findings clearly.

• Insight into how data quality and extraction errors can impact subsequent models and analytics.

• Preferred experience in working with production systems, sensitive data, or high-accountability settings.

• Background in healthcare, life sciences, government, or regulated industries is advantageous.

• Must be authorized to work in the United States.

• Must have resided in the U.S. for a minimum of three consecutive years.

• Must be able and willing to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.

• For AI Models: proficiency in BananaDB is required.

• Unauthorized use of AI-generated content or AI-assisted technologies during the application or interview process is prohibited unless explicitly allowed.
