This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop models to pinpoint opportunities for pricing and underwriting partners
• Conduct feature engineering, model creation, and ongoing model evaluation and maintenance utilizing medical, prescription drug, utilization management, and third-party data
• Contribute to extensive analytics for pricing and underwriting
• Implement special initiatives that enhance Commercial Healthcare underwriting
• Generate actionable insights and recommendations for business leaders that align with Cigna’s strategic goals
• Regularly communicate project progress with business stakeholders and senior leadership
• Assess and utilize existing analytic tools and techniques to modernize pricing and underwriting functions
• Ensure that solutions provide long-term value and integrate seamlessly with current processes
• Partner with business leaders to conceptualize, launch, and evaluate test-and-learn pilots
• Create GLM, machine learning, clustering, LLM, or other advanced models that address underwriting and actuarial business challenges
• Produce comprehensive, well-documented outputs alongside leadership, data science, business stakeholders, and engineering teams
• Over 5 years of direct Data Science experience in a healthcare-related setting
• Strong foundation in statistics, machine learning, and model development
• Experience with deploying ML/predictive models in production or cloud settings
• Proficient in Python, SQL, Git, Keras, and TensorFlow
• Familiarity with healthcare data, including claims, EHR, and laboratory data
• Experience adhering to best programming practices while writing clean, documented, and well-structured code
• Capability to conduct peer reviews
• Ability to advocate for thorough documentation and logging
• Capacity to manage projects from start to finish, including scoping, ideation, development, and production
• Skill in independently delivering clear, well-crafted presentations for both technical and business audiences
• Ability to establish data-science-specific project goals within larger project deliverables
• Proficiency in communicating timeline changes, rationale, and objectives to ensure deadlines are met
• Home internet connection via cable broadband or fiber optic service, with a minimum of 10 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload speed if working remotely
• MS or PhD in a STEM-related discipline is preferred
