Senior Data Engineer, Business Intelligence

📋 Description

• Design, construct, and maintain enterprise Data Lake solutions from the foundation up.

• Create scalable ETL solutions and data pipelines.

• Efficiently manage and process terabytes of data.

• Establish processes for data quality, governance, metadata, and lineage.

• Develop capabilities for anomaly detection, monitoring, and alert notifications.

• Support contemporary Data Lakehouse and real-time analytics platforms.

• Facilitate large-scale data ingestion, transformation, reconciliation, and backfill operations.

• Diagnose and enhance production data services and distributed analytics platforms.

• Provide support for production Linux environments and distributed data and analytics platforms.

• Assist in enterprise reporting, self-service analytics, and business intelligence solutions.

• Ensure appropriate handling of sensitive and regulated information within data platforms.

• Offer technical guidance, mentor team members, conduct code and design reviews, and contribute to engineering standards and best practices.

• Report to the DBA and Analytics Manager.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, professional experience, and demonstrated technical expertise.

• Over 5 years of experience in Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, Business Intelligence Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Demonstrated experience in designing and constructing enterprise Data Lakes, Lakehouses, or analytical data platforms.

• Strong background in developing enterprise ETL/ELT solutions and scalable data pipelines.

• Experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining modern Data Lakehouse and real-time analytics platforms utilizing Oracle Database, Debezium, Kafka, Kafka Connect, Apache Flink, Apache Iceberg, Nessie, StarRocks, Spark, Kyuubi, and Power BI.

• Familiarity with Change Data Capture (CDC), event-driven architectures, real-time data processing, data cataloging, schema evolution, data versioning, and enterprise-scale ETL/ELT solutions.

• Experience in supporting large-scale data ingestion, transformation, reconciliation, backfill processes, and distributed analytics platforms, including troubleshooting and performance optimization of production data services.

• Knowledge of observability, monitoring, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices using Prometheus, VictoriaMetrics, and Grafana.

• Robust experience in supporting production Linux environments (Oracle Linux, RHEL, CentOS, or equivalent), encompassing system administration, systemd-managed services, performance tuning, automation, monitoring, troubleshooting, and operational support for distributed data and analytics platforms.

• Advanced skills in SQL development, data modeling, and performance tuning.

• Experience with dimensional modeling, semantic-layer design, and analytical data structures.

• Experience in processing and managing large-scale data environments.

• Practical experience in implementing data quality, reconciliation, monitoring, and observability frameworks.

• Familiarity with metadata management, data lineage, governance, and data cataloging practices.

• Experience in implementing monitoring, alerting, anomaly detection, and operational support processes for production data platforms.

• Experience in supporting enterprise reporting, self-service analytics, and business intelligence solutions that utilize curated datasets, semantic models, and high-performance analytical query engines.

• Capability to ensure that enterprise data platforms and analytics solutions comply with requirements for managing PII, customer data, confidential business information, and other regulated data types.

• Ability to provide technical leadership on complex data and analytics initiatives, mentor team members, conduct code and design reviews, and contribute to engineering standards and best practices.

• Valid passport and legal eligibility for international travel, including necessary travel visas or passport-based visa exemptions for Canada, the United States, and the Caribbean.
