Senior Data Developer, SAP

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and optimize intricate Calculation Views utilizing SAP HANA 2.0 (HDI Containers, Web IDE, or Business Application Studio).

• Create sophisticated Table Functions and Stored Procedures using SQLScript to support both analytical and transactional workloads.

• Implement and sustain HDI Containers, Synonyms, and .hdbgrants configurations to ensure effective data access governance.

• Construct, maintain, and troubleshoot robust data pipelines with SAP Data Services (BODS) to transfer data from S/4HANA to Google BigQuery.

• Design and establish delta-load frameworks that reduce data extraction overhead while ensuring the freshness of data.

• Manage BODS job servers and configure complex transformations to fulfill business and technical requirements.

• Utilize S/4HANA standard CDS Views and ODP (Operational Data Provisioning) frameworks for efficient and scalable data extraction.

• Navigate the S/4HANA data dictionary (e.g., ACDOCA, MATDOC) to identify optimal data sources and extraction patterns.

• Ensure extraction logic is aligned with business processes (e.g., Sales Orders, Material Documents, Financial Postings).

• Configure and enhance connectivity between SAP and Google Cloud Platform, leveraging Google Cloud Storage (GCS) for staging and the BigQuery Adapter for bulk loading.

• Design and implement file-based integration patterns with Parquet and CSV formats to optimize load performance.

• Optimize BigQuery table partitioning, clustering, and schema design to facilitate high-performance analytics at scale.

• Continuously assess and enhance data pipeline performance to achieve real-time or near-real-time data availability.

• Troubleshoot integration challenges across SAP HANA, BODS, GCS, and BigQuery, ensuring minimal disruption to downstream users.

• Propose architectural enhancements that balance data freshness, system performance, and cost-effectiveness.

⛳️ Requirements

• Advanced proficiency in English (both written and spoken) is required for collaboration with international teams and client stakeholders.

• Demonstrated hands-on experience with SAP HANA 2.0, including XSA architecture, HDI Containers, Synonyms, and .hdbgrants.

• Expert-level skills in SAP Data Services (BODS), including the development of delta-load frameworks, management of job servers, and configuration of complex transformations.

• Practical experience in migrating SAP data to Google BigQuery, with a deep understanding of BigQuery partitioning, clustering, and schema optimization.

• Strong familiarity with the S/4HANA data dictionary (e.g., ACDOCA, MATDOC) and Core Data Services (CDS) views.

• Advanced SQLScript capabilities for creating Table Functions and Stored Procedures within SAP HANA.

• Practical experience with file-based staging integration patterns using Google Cloud Storage (Parquet/CSV formats).

• A "generalist" mindset: the ability to grasp both business logic (e.g., the flow of a Sales Order) and technical implementation details.

• Nice to Have:

• SAP certification in HANA 2.0 or S/4HANA.

• Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer certification.

• Experience with additional GCP services (Cloud Composer, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions).

• Familiarity with SAP BW/4HANA or SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC).

• Understanding of data governance frameworks and master data management (MDM) principles.

• Previous experience in large-scale ERP data modernization or cloud migration initiatives.
