Senior Data Analyst – 9 Month FTC

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of, manage, size, and prioritize the Change and reporting backlog, ensuring timely completion of items.

• Convert business requirements into technical specifications while clarifying data constraints and options to Change.

• Perform source profiling, mapping, model design, and non-functional requirements analysis for extensive data engineering projects.

• Develop, test, and release designated reports, semantic models, and data extracts utilizing SQL, Power BI, and Microsoft Fabric.

• Keep track of backlog size, throughput, and burn down, providing progress updates to the Data Lead and Change stakeholders.

• Validate outputs, adhere to team standards for definitions and reconciliations, and address reporting discrepancies.

• Manage daily data requests while ensuring delivery timelines are met.

• Assist analysts and developers through specification reviews, peer assessments, and knowledge sharing.

• Engage in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives to enhance team processes.

• Record delivered items, decisions made, and outstanding backlog for handover to the permanent team.

• Deliver a triaged and prioritized backlog, released reports and data outputs, build-ready specifications, documented definitions, reconciliation notes, regular progress reports, and a thorough handover over a nine-month period.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient SQL skills for in-depth analysis, query optimization, and reconciliation across systems.

• Experience in creating Power BI semantic models, DAX measures, and reports.

• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse, Warehouse, Data Pipelines, notebooks, and semantic models, or strong equivalent experience with cloud data platforms.

• Capability to translate business requirements into technical specifications.

• Background in managing and burning down a backlog, sizing tasks, prioritizing with stakeholders, and meeting committed deadlines.

• Experience collaborating with Change, operations, and senior stakeholders.

• Knowledge of data governance principles, including definitions, lineage, and reconciliation.

• Understanding of data protection practices when outputs involve personal or client data.

• Demonstrated ability to mentor analysts and developers through reviews and knowledge sharing.

• Background in financial services, platforms, or other regulated environments is preferred.

• Experience working within an Agile delivery framework.
