This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia, +1 more country.
• Develop and enhance Xero’s frameworks for privacy, data, and AI governance to facilitate responsible data utilization and the adoption and deployment of AI.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to convert governance policies and requirements into practical and user-friendly guidance.
• Support the widespread adoption of governance guidelines.
• Deliver impactful literacy programs and customized educational resources to enhance data and AI capabilities throughout Xero.
• Work alongside Regulatory, Privacy, and Risk departments to respond to changing legislation and customer expectations.
• Co-create pragmatic governance strategies for data and AI that address issues of bias, transparency, and explainability.
• Provide advice to decision-makers on governance frameworks to ensure safe experimentation and development.
• Engage with Product, Privacy, Security, Regulatory, Risk, and Government Relations teams.
• Report directly to the Director of Data & AI Governance.
• Extensive knowledge of data governance frameworks and practices.
• Proven experience in establishing stewardship models and governance forums.
• Experience in supporting data catalogs and data quality platforms.
• Recent hands-on experience in AI governance.
• Ability to comprehend AI systems and navigate the ethical, regulatory, and operational challenges associated with responsible AI at scale.
• Technical expertise in data architecture, data quality, and data lineage.
• Practical experience in bridging policy and technical implementation.
• Capability to translate complex regulatory and policy requirements into clear, actionable guidance for varied audiences.
• Proficient in explaining governance concepts to technical subject matter experts and technical concepts to policy stakeholders.
• Familiarity with GDPR, the EU AI Act, and CCPA.
• Knowledge of ISO 27001/SOC 2 certification frameworks.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and foster trust.
• A growth mindset with a drive to automate, enhance, and disseminate knowledge.
