This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Oversee, implement, and offer technical assistance within a collaborative team environment on complex interdisciplinary infrastructure initiatives.
• Organize and supervise geotechnical and geological field investigations.
• Analyze field investigation boring logs.
• Assess instrumentation and monitoring data.
• Delegate project-specific soil and rock laboratory testing tasks.
• Execute engineering analyses and designs related to soil and rock mechanics, foundation engineering, fill placement/ground modification, embankment dam engineering, seepage assessments, slope stability evaluations, and seismic analyses.
• Carry out value engineering and forensic evaluations.
• Draft and evaluate engineering reports, technical documents, and presentations.
• Engage with clients and regulatory bodies.
• Set goals and objectives for project teams.
• Organize and manage resources to ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and to the satisfaction of clients.
• Supervise and mentor junior engineering personnel.
• Travel occasionally to project locations.
• Contribute to Schnabel’s geotechnical and water sectors through published articles, white papers, conferences, and workshops.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Geotechnical and/or Civil Engineering, or related disciplines.
• Master’s Degree is preferred.
• Over 20 years of experience in dam safety engineering.
• Licensed Professional Engineer or the ability to obtain registration within 6 months.
• Relevant knowledge in dams, water impounding structures, cofferdams, and other hydraulic constructions.
• Proficiency in seepage, static and seismic stability evaluations, liquefaction analysis, deformation assessments, and foundation and settlement evaluations.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English, particularly in technical contexts.
• Must be willing to travel occasionally to both local and remote project sites.
• Capability to lift heavy items weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Must successfully pass a background check, which may include criminal history, motor vehicle records, and credit checks.
