Senior Customer Engineer, SLED West

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with Account Executives to conduct technical discovery, create customized architectures, and present product demonstrations and Proofs of Concept across Cloudflare’s Security, Networking, and Developer Platforms.

• Customize solutions to meet public sector procurement and compliance requirements.

• Lead or supervise the technical onboarding and implementation process.

• Act as the main executive and engineering liaison for customers.

• Manage discovery, demonstrations, onboarding, technical health, risk, and expansion strategies alongside Account Executives.

• Track customer health scores and telemetry to enhance time-to-value and address integration challenges in municipal and educational IT environments.

• Maintain a variable quota associated with new business acquisition and/or account growth.

• Promote platform adoption, revenue retention, and identify cross-sell and up-sell opportunities.

• Conduct technical Quarterly Business Reviews and communicate platform capabilities in terms of ROI for C-level executives.

• Serve as a reliable technical advisor throughout the onboarding, maturity, renewal, and expansion phases.

• Utilize AI agents and internal tools to streamline RFP/security questionnaire responses, sandbox provisioning, and telemetry oversight.

• Report directly to the Regional Customer Engineering Leader.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience working with or selling to SLED, Local Government, or Municipal entities.

• In-depth knowledge of public sector purchasing cycles, compliance needs, and specific governmental IT challenges.

• Experience in a customer-facing technical position, such as Solutions Engineering, Customer Engineering, Sales Engineering, or Forward Deployed Engineering.

• Extensive technical knowledge covering web security, networking (routing, DNS, DDoS mitigation), cloud infrastructure, and enterprise architecture.

• Proven success in a quota-carrying or revenue-focused role.

• Strong comprehension of SaaS metrics, translating business value, and public sector/enterprise sales cycles.

• Outstanding presentation and stakeholder management abilities.

• Hands-on experience with the Cloudflare developer platform and AI ecosystem, including Workers AI, AI Gateway, and Vectorize (highly preferred).

• Familiarity with prompt engineering, LLM orchestration, or RAG architectures (highly preferred).

• Proficient in Python, JavaScript, or similar programming languages (highly preferred).

• Must be a resident of California or Arizona.

• Employment may be contingent upon authorization to handle technology governed by U.S. export laws without the need for sponsorship for an export license.
