This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Provide guidance to business, procurement, and engineering teams on intricate commercial contracting and infrastructure issues that support Akamai's global platform.

• Create, assess, and negotiate agreements related to data center leases, colocation, bandwidth, connectivity, interconnection, transit, peering, and the procurement of hardware and software.

• Recognize and advise on risks associated with infrastructure transactions, encompassing liability, indemnification, data security, compliance, operational dependencies, and other essential business factors.

• Establish and uphold contract templates, playbooks, and negotiation strategies.

• Assist in fostering strategic supplier relationships by overseeing contract interpretations, renewals, amendments, escalations, and disputes.

• Offer practical legal counsel to senior stakeholders regarding transaction strategies, contracting procedures, and risk management in relation to global infrastructure.

• Keep abreast of legal and market trends pertinent to network infrastructure, data centers, telecommunications, hardware procurement, supply chain, and associated technology transactions.

• Provide legal assistance for other commercial transactions as required.

• Collaborate with teams involved in network infrastructure strategy and operations, engineering, global procurement, information security, product development, and finance.


⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

• Active membership in good standing in at least one relevant U.S. state jurisdiction.

• Minimum of 8 years of legal practice.

• Relevant experience in advising on legal issues related to technology, cloud, and network infrastructure.

• Proficiency in structuring, drafting, and negotiating complex commercial and technology agreements.

• Experience with procurement, data center leases, colocation, network services, and contracts for hardware/software, IaaS, and SaaS.

• Knowledge of global clients and international regulatory challenges linked to cloud services, content delivery networks, and internet-related technologies.

• Strong analytical, communication, and organizational abilities.

• Capability to manage numerous complex transactions and provide clear, pragmatic advice to senior stakeholders.

• Experience in managing and coordinating external counsel.

• Proven track record of collaborating on cross-functional projects in a global technology landscape.
