
Senior Cost Manager β Quantity Surveyor, Data Center Construction

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.
β’ Assist in managing a large-scale, multi-phase construction program located in Southern New Mexico.
β’ Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders on a daily basis.
β’ Oversee project costs, commercial management, and financial controls throughout the duration of the project.
β’ Estimate and negotiate change orders across various project phases and work packages.
β’ Provide cost planning and estimation services, including the creation and presentation of final cost plans.
β’ Collaborate with design services teams and general contractors to review and participate in the development of cost estimates.
β’ Reconcile project changes and confirm the accuracy of data provided by general contractors.
β’ Collect project status updates and prepare revisions to cost estimates.
β’ Draft written comments and executive summaries regarding contractor submissions.
β’ Coordinate cost data from suppliers, subcontractors, quantity data, and design teams.
β’ Prioritize engineering tasks based on their cost implications.
β’ Proactively address scheduling conflicts.
β’ Manage cost assessments and valuations for larger projects.
β’ Engage in post-contract cost variance analysis and change control processes.
β’ Oversee cost impact assessments, manage contingencies, and maintain commitment tracking logs.
β’ Prepare presentations for funding data and facilitate value engineering sessions.
β’ Develop and refresh cost plans and estimates through various design milestones.
β’ Offer commercial insights during design optioneering and value engineering efforts.
β’ Evaluate pricing from contractors and subcontractors while leading negotiations with clients.
β’ Conduct quantity surveying, cost management, and change control activities.
β’ Maintain processes for cost auditing and validation.
β’ Generate monthly cost reports for client presentations.
β’ Negotiate and finalize accounts in a timely manner.
β’ Compile built cost estimate records for benchmarking purposes.
β’ Identify, mentor, and coach talent within the team.
β’ Monitor margin levels and monthly forecasts for fees/resources utilizing internal software.
β’ Uphold Business Management Systems and delivery methodologies.
β’ Comply with applicable SOX control responsibilities.
β’ Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Cost Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related field within construction.
β’ At least 5-7 years of pertinent experience in a cost management capacity within the construction sector.
β’ RICS accreditation or active pursuit of accreditation is preferred.
β’ Proven experience in leading cost management for medium to large construction projects of moderate to high complexity.
β’ Strongly preferred experience in construction consultancy.
β’ Solid understanding of technical aspects of the construction industry, including procurement methods, value management, and value engineering.
β’ Preferred experience in supporting large-scale commercial, industrial, mission-critical, or campus-style construction programs.
β’ Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities.
β’ Capable of working independently with minimal oversight.
β’ Experience in client-facing roles.
β’ On-site attendance and requirements may vary based on client needs.
