
Senior Cost Manager – Quantity Surveyor, Data Center Construction

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.
• Oversee a comprehensive, multi-phase data center construction initiative in the Greater El Paso region.
• Act as a primary day-to-day point of contact for stakeholders.
• Supervise costs, provide commercial oversight, and implement financial controls throughout the project lifecycle.
• Estimate and negotiate change orders across various project phases and work packages.
• Deliver estimate and cost planning services, including the creation and presentation of final cost plans.
• Participate in the development of cost estimates with design teams and general contractors.
• Reconcile modifications and ensure the accuracy of data provided by the general contractor.
• Collect project status updates and prepare revisions to cost estimates.
• Draft written feedback and executive summaries regarding contractor submissions.
• Coordinate cost details from suppliers, subcontractors, quantities, and design teams.
• Advise on engineering priorities influenced by cost considerations.
• Proactively address scheduling challenges with minimal oversight.
• Manage cost checks, valuations, assessments of cost impacts, contingency management, and tracking of commitments.
• Prepare presentations for funding data and facilitate value engineering sessions.
• Develop and refresh cost plans and estimates in alignment with design milestones.
• Provide commercial insights for design optioneering and value engineering efforts.
• Review pricing from contractors and subcontractors while leading negotiations on behalf of the client.
• Conduct quantity surveying, enforce cost controls, and manage change processes.
• Oversee post-contract cost discrepancies, change management, auditing, and valuation procedures.
• Generate monthly cost reports for client review.
• Negotiate and finalize accounts in a timely manner.
• Compile cost estimate records of completed projects for benchmarking purposes.
• Identify, coach, and mentor emerging talent.
• Provide leadership and service delivery consistent with the conditions of appointment.
• Monitor margin levels and monthly fee/resource forecasts using internal software systems.
• Maintain internal Business Management Systems, delivery methodologies, and tools.
• Comply with relevant SOX control responsibilities.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Cost Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 5-7 years of pertinent experience in a cost management role within the construction sector.
• RICS accreditation or progress toward it is preferred.
• Experience leading cost management efforts on medium to large construction projects of moderate to high complexity.
• Prior experience in construction consultancy is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of technical matters in the construction industry, including procurement routes, value management, and value engineering.
• Familiarity with large-scale commercial, industrial, mission-critical, or campus-style construction programs is a plus.
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities.
