Senior Community Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Oversee the daily operations of the dbt Slack community.

• Collaborate with community leaders and internal stakeholders to refine channel strategies, community guidelines, and engagement initiatives.

• Create and uphold moderation and support workflows, including the enforcement of the Code of Conduct.

• Mentor, assist, recruit, and onboard moderators and community advocates.

• Establish content systems that include announcements, highlights, prompts, and community narratives.

• Convey community insights and member feedback to Product, Marketing, and Support teams, ensuring a feedback loop with the community.

• Track and analyze engagement and health metrics, conducting improvement experiments as necessary.

• Manage the suite of digital engagement tools, including Slack workflows, analytics, knowledge bases, integrations, and web portals.

• Coordinate and oversee incident responses with Legal, People, and Security departments as needed.

• Facilitate cross-channel digital engagement across community forums, social media, and events.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in digital community management, online engagement, or community program management in a global or distributed setting.

• Proven experience managing daily operations for a large online community such as Slack, Discord, or similar forums.

• Familiarity with moderation, member support, and community health metrics.

• Strong comprehension of online community dynamics.

• Experience in developing and enhancing moderation and support workflows, including Code of Conduct enforcement.

• Exceptional written communication and facilitation abilities.

• Proficient in utilizing community tools and analytics such as Slack workflows, Common Room, or comparable platforms.

• Data-driven decision-making skills, encompassing the definition of engagement and health KPIs, impact measurement, and outcome reporting.

• Experience in cross-functional collaboration with Product, Marketing, Support, and Developer Experience teams.

• Cultural sensitivity and awareness across various regions and time zones.

• High emotional intelligence and adeptness in managing conflict, ambiguity, and sensitive topics.

• Ability to juggle multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment.

• Bonus: experience in scaling highly-engaged Slack/Discord communities, crisis management, community-as-a-product operations, and scalable workflow automation.
