Senior Communications Strategist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Manage the planning and execution of strategic communications across the organization.

• Act as the primary subject matter expert on integrated communication strategies and narrative consistency.

• Offer strategic advice to leadership regarding communication stance, message risks, and alignment opportunities.

• Direct messaging coordination across various directorates for all mission areas.

• Create frameworks for enterprise messaging, provide strategic guidance, and develop communication playbooks.

• Ensure uniformity and precision in all digital, print, and stakeholder-facing channels.

• Assist in policy-related communications, leadership briefings, and organizational announcements.

• Collaborate with UX, content, visualization, and technical teams to generate communication products aligned with mission objectives.

• Oversee communication analysis, sentiment insights, and performance metrics reporting.

• Work in partnership with outreach, engagement, and program teams on cohesive stakeholder communications.

• Ensure adherence to accessibility standards, federal communication guidelines, and branding policies.


⛳️ Requirements

• Active Secret clearance or higher is required.

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Affairs, Strategic Communications, Marketing, or a related discipline.

• At least 10 years of experience in communications, public affairs, strategic messaging, or leadership in enterprise communications.

• Experience in supporting strategic communications initiatives for federal or DoD entities.

• Proven track record of leading integrated communications projects across multiple organizations.

• Experience in advising senior leaders on communication risks, priorities, and strategic direction.

• Proficiency in guiding message development and alignment through both digital and traditional channels.

• Comprehensive understanding of enterprise communications strategy, narrative creation, and stakeholder engagement.

• Knowledge of federal communication requirements, branding guidelines, and accessibility standards.

• Experience in managing multichannel communication workflows and governance.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills appropriate for senior leadership.

• Strong capabilities in executive communication and narrative shaping.

• Ability to lead cross-functional efforts in messaging alignment.

• High emotional intelligence and diplomacy in engaging with stakeholders.

• Analytical skills for assessing communication effectiveness and strategic impact.

• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, consistency, and clarity.
