Senior Commissioning Engineer – Electrical

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.

📋 Description

• Create and execute commissioning plans, procedures, and checklists for all electrical systems.

• Evaluate design packages to ensure they align with the functional objectives of KPSH.

• Oversee OEM and BoP subcontractors in relation to commissioning deliverables.

• Conduct inspections, testing, and commissioning of HV, MV, and LV electrical equipment.

• Coordinate and carry out loop checks, functional tests, and energization plans.

• Work collaboratively with engineering, construction, OEM, and operations teams to adhere to project timelines and quality standards.

• Identify, diagnose, and resolve technical issues during pre-commissioning and commissioning phases.

• Assist in the integration of KPSH with the broader electrical grid while ensuring adherence to grid codes and standards.

• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations during commissioning activities.

• Document test results and prepare commissioning reports and handover documentation.

• Communicate with utility providers, regulatory agencies, and third-party testing organizations.

• Manage and oversee preservation and operation & maintenance (O&M) requirements as specified in equipment manuals.

• Support the permit team with planning and reviewing permit applications.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent technical qualification.

• A minimum of 5+ years of experience in power generation, ideally in hydro or pumped storage.

• In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, including HV/MV/LV, protection schemes, and control systems.

• Solid understanding of SCADA systems, PLCs, and control logic.

• Practical experience with commissioning procedures, safety protocols, and energization processes.

• Familiarity with applicable standards and codes.

• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and technical drawings.

• Capability to work in field conditions, including remote project sites, with the possibility of rotating or extended shifts as needed.
