This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut, +21 more states.
• Oversee designated lines of business and products to maximize profitability while aligning with corporate strategy.
• Formulate strategies for profitable growth.
• Organize and schedule the introduction of new products, revisions to existing products, and product rate evaluations.
• Offer technical support and assistance for significant projects.
• Cultivate expertise in team members and provide mentorship.
• Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance assigned commercial lines products.
• Evaluate profitability, product profiles, competitor data, and growth to pinpoint loss/profit influencers and market opportunities.
• Spearhead the creation of solutions that tackle loss influencers and enhance profit drivers through collaborative and data-driven decisions.
• Generate and share market insights, product strategies, recommendations, policyholder communications, and project updates.
• Create proposals and presentations for stakeholders and senior leadership.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on projects and fulfill business requirements for successful implementations.
• Direct the creation and execution of user acceptance testing.
• Coordinate and implement new carrier/state launches, including algorithms and system specifications.
• Ensure that premium algorithms, rates, rules, and class codes meet state regulations and are accurately loaded into systems.
• Track the adoption of ISO manual revisions and provide guidance on adoption or deferral dates.
• Prepare and review filings and offer consultation on filing matters.
• Collaborate on state regulatory environments, market conduct examinations, and audits.
• Review circulars and bulletins from trade organizations and suggest implications for the product portfolio.
• Train, mentor, and assist new and less-experienced team members.
• Monitor metrics related to projects and products.
• Lead ad-hoc research committees and projects to completion.
• Support Annual Rate Review meetings.
• Oversee vendor research projects, demonstrations, and purchasing proposals.
• Facilitate cross-functional operations meetings.
• Represent Product Management at meetings and conferences.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred; relevant experience may be considered.
• At least seven years of experience in commercial lines product management, underwriting, and/or claims is preferred.
• Familiarity with state filing through S.E.R.F.F. is preferred.
• Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation or other professional insurance credentials are preferred.
• Experience in interpreting insurance rating manuals, policy forms & endorsements, and various state and trade bulletins is required.
• Strong analytical skills are essential.
• Proficient in data management tools (e.g., Tableau).
• Knowledgeable in financial result analysis, profitability assessment, and forecasting.
• Excellent interpersonal communication (both oral and written) and leadership abilities are necessary.
• Capable of effectively communicating with executive leaders across the organization.
• Experience in strategic thinking/planning and strong forecasting capabilities.
• Proficient in inductive and deductive reasoning.
• Must be decisive, ask pertinent questions at the right moments, and empower project team members.
• Ability to delegate responsibilities and mentor others.
• Competence in setting realistic goals and defining product roadmaps.
• Expertise in insurance products that encompasses customer discovery, planning, and product development.
• Profound understanding of customer-centric product practices.
• Ability to mentor and develop expertise in team members.
