Senior Commercial Actuarial Reserving Manager

📋 Description

• Develop and deliver training programs for Actuarial Analysts.

• Supervise Actuarial Consultants and/or Analysts.

• Offer direction and support on various projects.

• Initiate analyses to tackle business challenges.

• Ensure that project schedules and deadlines are adhered to.

• Foster and sustain relationships with both internal and external clients.

• Lead monthly booking sessions and quarterly reserve evaluations.

• Present reserve results and analyses to senior management.

• Promote innovation and enhance processes within the team.

• Provide constructive feedback to leadership.

• Review the work of Analysts and ensure successful project outcomes.

• Oversee team workload and recommend trade-offs to leadership.

• Engage proactively with key business partners to meet objectives with limited resources.

• Perform HR functions such as recruiting, interviewing, conducting performance evaluations, making salary recommendations, managing promotions, terminations, disciplinary actions, recognition, coaching, mentoring, and providing performance guidance.

• Interpret enterprise strategy and priorities for team members.

• Promote company culture through employee resource groups, mentoring, volunteering, and collaborative projects.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in statistics, mathematics, actuarial science, or a related field, with 6 years of post-bachelor experience in statistical and actuarial analysis of personal or commercial lines insurance.

• Alternatively, a graduate degree in statistics, mathematics, actuarial science, or a related area with 4 years of experience in statistical and actuarial analysis of personal or commercial lines insurance.

• Over 1 year of leadership experience.

• More than 3 years of Reserving experience.

• ACAS (Associate in Casualty Actuarial Society) designation.

• Strong understanding of the market landscape.

• Excellent decision-making, leadership, and motivational abilities.

• Capability to coach, mentor, assess, and provide training, guidance, and constructive feedback to professional staff.

• At least 3 years of experience in Commercial Lines Reserving.

• Over 3 years of experience managing teams in a supervisory role.

• Six or more years of post-bachelor experience in statistical and actuarial analysis of Commercial Lines insurance.

• A graduate degree in statistics, mathematics, actuarial science, or a related area with 4+ years of experience in statistical and actuarial analysis of Commercial Lines insurance is also acceptable.

• FCAS designation is considered an additional qualification.

• Exceptional problem-solving and critical thinking capabilities.

• Proven oral and written communication skills, including the ability to deliver formal presentations.

• Demonstrated leadership ability within a team context.

• Comprehensive knowledge of the actuarial industry and insurance market.

• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and juggle multiple projects.

• Must possess authorization to work indefinitely in the United States.
