Senior Cloud Operations Transformation Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ireland.

📋 Description

• Oversee the comprehensive delivery of a cloud operations transformation program for a significant public sector client.

• Evaluate current IT and cloud operations practices, and establish a feasible target operating model in alignment with industry best practices, ITIL principles, and recognized cloud adoption frameworks.

• Develop operational processes encompassing backup and recovery, patch management, vulnerability management, security posture management, monitoring and observability, incident and change management, configuration management, license management, service reporting, and FinOps.

• Create customer-facing policies, standards, procedures, operating manuals, governance artifacts, process flows, RACI models, operational control matrices, and technical environment diagrams.

• Utilize practical cloud operations expertise in Azure and AWS environments.

• Engage with senior customer stakeholders, providing structured communication and visibility into progress.

• Lead weekly program status meetings, deliver progress updates, manage risks and issues, and ensure decisions and actions are tracked to completion.

• Direct a small blended team of PFH and customer personnel, assigning tasks and coordinating contributions.

• Take ownership of specific deliverables that necessitate senior consulting insights, process design skills, or high-quality written outputs.

• Assist the client in establishing operational governance, control assurance, and practices for continuous improvement.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience leading IT operations, cloud operations, or service management transformation projects in complex enterprise or public sector settings.

• Strong knowledge of IT operations management, risk control frameworks, governance, service management, and operational assurance.

• Hands-on experience in designing and enhancing operating processes for cloud or hybrid IT environments, ideally across Microsoft Azure and/or Amazon Web Services.

• Proven ability to convert best-practice frameworks into actionable policies, standards, procedures, and daily operating processes.

• Excellent program and project management skills, including planning, dependency management, RAID management, stakeholder reporting, and delivery governance.

• Strong consulting skills with the ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders, technical teams, service owners, and operational support teams.

• Outstanding written communication abilities, with a track record of producing polished, structured, and professional documentation for clients.

• Capacity to work independently, impose structure on ambiguous requirements, and drive concrete delivery outcomes within tight timelines.

• ITIL certification or equivalent practical service management experience is a plus.

• PRINCE2, PMP, AgilePM, Microsoft Azure, AWS, or similar cloud/project certifications are advantageous.

• Must be able to work remotely within Ireland.
