Senior Claims Manager – EPL

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alaska, +8 more states.

📋 Description

• Manage the organization's Employment Practice Liability claims directly.

• Assess and resolve coverage matters related to Employment Practices claims.

• Conduct investigations of claims via phone, written correspondence, or personal interactions with attorneys, business associates, witnesses, and other relevant parties.

• Present claims and trends to Claims and Legal Leadership, focusing on coverage, liability assessments, and overall exposure.

• Analyze data to assess assigned claims and evaluate organizational exposure.

• Evaluate, negotiate, and settle claims with defense counsel within the designated authority, utilizing appropriate denials or releases.

• Provide necessary reports to leadership, claims, reinsurance, and legal teams on significant exposure cases.

• Report promptly on cases advancing to trial and attend trial segments when necessary or requested.

• Ensure accurate referrals and timely updates to reinsurers.

• Collaborate with business partners and defense counsel to guide litigation activities and claim results.

• Offer insights and thought leadership to business partners, including HR, on strategies for avoiding and mitigating EPL risks.

• Travel may be necessary for mediations, arbitrations, settlement conferences, trials, training, or other proceedings.

• Perform responsibilities in accordance with applicable legal and regulatory standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Law, HR, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in employment law, risk management, or insurance pertaining to employment practices.

• Experience managing EPL claims as a claims professional and/or defending EPL claims as an attorney.

• Exceptional communication, strategic negotiation, claim disposition, and problem-solving abilities.

• Strong presentation skills.

• Moderate proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Adequate keyboarding skills to enter data accurately and efficiently.

• A valid state-issued driver's license in good standing, with the capability to operate a vehicle.
