Senior Civil/Structural Engineer

📋 Description

• Ulteig is looking for qualified candidates for the role of Senior Civil/Structural Engineer to support projects in Renewables, Utility, and Power sectors.

• The Senior Engineer will serve as a discipline lead engineer or overall project engineer, responsible for planning, scheduling, conducting, and/or coordinating detailed phases of assigned project work.

• This position involves making design recommendations, adaptations, and modifications for foundation design, structural steel design, and grading plans.

• The Senior Engineer is expected to perform calculations utilizing engineering formulas and skills while completing their own design work, which may include both computer-aided and manual calculations.

• Current standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria will be applied to carry out engineering tasks.

• The role includes developing plans, specifications, and observation reports to ensure these items are complete, accurate, and align with sound engineering practices.

• Efficiency engineering principles will be practiced as they relate to design selection.

• Recommendations for alterations to development and design will be made to enhance quality.

• Close collaboration with engineering technicians and seasoned engineers is required.

• The position may involve working in both office and field environments.

• The Senior Engineer will rely on their experience and judgment to effectively plan and achieve goals.

• They will be technically engaged in resolving design issues, which may include conducting field investigations or observations.

• Design computations completed by others will be reviewed and checked.

• Coordination of specific design elements of a project will be part of the responsibilities.

• Detailed engineering design and evaluations within the specialty will be performed.

• New approaches and solutions to encountered problems may be developed.

• Reports and correspondence regarding the direction of assigned projects will be prepared.

• Engagement in marketing, sales, and business development activities within the assigned market may be required.

• The role demands a high degree of creativity and flexibility.

• Effective communication and interaction with clients to ensure their needs are met is essential.

• Collaboration with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects is important.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Civil and/or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent is required.

• A Professional Engineer (PE) license in Civil/Structural Engineering is mandatory; a Structural Engineer (SE) license is preferred.

• A minimum of 10 years of engineering experience is necessary.

• Knowledge of electrical utility substation layout and design is required.

• Understanding of structural steel, drilled pier & spread footing design and detailing is essential, with grading design preferred.

• Experience with MathCAD, STAAD, or equivalent foundation design programs, as well as other structural modeling software, is preferred.

• Knowledge of AISC and ACI is required, while familiarity with ASCE and NESC is preferred.

• A basic understanding of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation is desirable.

• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required.

• Openness to innovation by embracing and applying evolving technology and AI tools for enhancing workflows, solving problems, and driving continuous improvement is essential.

• Up to 15% travel may be required.

• Candidates must have authorization to work permanently in the US.
