Senior Ceph/Rook-Ceph, Kubernetes Storage Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ukraine, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Become a vital part of a long-term initiative as a Senior Ceph/Rook-Ceph + Kubernetes Storage Engineer.

• Manage and resolve issues within production Ceph environments.

• Collaborate on troubleshooting Kubernetes storage and infrastructure.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in DevOps, SRE, infrastructure, or storage engineering.

• Extensive hands-on experience with production Ceph, encompassing OSD, MON, MGR, PGs, recovery, backfill, capacity planning, performance tuning, scaling, and ensuring high availability.

• Proven experience in constructing, managing, upgrading, and troubleshooting production Ceph clusters.

• Practical experience with Rook-Ceph in Kubernetes, ideally in mission-critical production settings.

• Strong understanding of Kubernetes, including CSI/storage integration.

• Proficient in Linux administration and troubleshooting at both OS and hardware levels.

• Experience in automation using Ansible.

• Familiarity with Kubernetes tools such as Helm.

• Skilled in monitoring and observability with Prometheus and Grafana.

• Experience in analyzing storage performance, latency, disk failures, network bottlenecks, and recovery challenges.

• Solid understanding of failure domains, CRUSH topology, replication, and storage architecture.

• Excellent English communication skills.

• Experience with OpenStack, particularly with Ceph integration with Cinder, Glance, Nova, and RBD (highly desirable but not essential).

• Experience with petabyte-scale Ceph environments (highly desirable but not essential).

• Familiarity with bare-metal infrastructure (highly desirable but not essential).

• Experience managing large production Rook-Ceph clusters (highly desirable but not essential).

• Experience with CephFS and RGW/S3 (highly desirable but not essential).

• Customer-facing troubleshooting and support experience (highly desirable but not essential).
